After the (Phew!) selection of the appropriate b-school, it’s time to prepare ourselves for the hustle bustle of getting arrangements done to finally enter into our unfamiliar new abode for the next two years, a new beginning is what it becomes for each and every student, where they aspire to reach the pinnacle of success, forge some excellent friendships, and create value both for themselves and their college.
When we talk about us, exactly one year back, the initial joining letter of XIMB-XUB brought in anxiety, uncertainty and curiosity regarding the entire world of Xavier Institute of Management, continuously checking queries and their discussion threads in the bursting Facebook pages, interacting with our prospective batch mates (and making best friends already in the process) in the ever-busy Whatsapp groups, trying to get actual reviews, placement statistics, clearing frivolous doubts, double checking every piece of information amassed.
Coming out of the comfort zone, into the world where the Whatsapp messages led to a million pings a day for every kind of discussion, it was difficult to ascertain the reality of assignments, activities, classes and what not. A common saying about B-schools were “time flies and you never know when you complete a year”. Were truer words ever spoken?
Today as we see the new batch coming in, with their anxiety, nervousness and excited, some frantic queries on XIMB, its culture, its pedagogy, professors, life, it’s almost like we get to relive the moments.
This last “saturated’ week will pass. The week filled with restless anticipation, with the constant WhatsApp alerts by people who’ve YET to meet each other, will all be over with people entering the halls of XIMB-XUB, making friends for life, running around, creating more than two thousand memories in two years.
So, finally when you enter the gate, after having said your goodbyes, stumbling with your numerous bags, bags that you spent days, if not weeks to fill carefully, deciding the hows and whys of packing, and ask "Bhaina, Registration hall?", you are hit by the realisation that you have two glorious years ahead in a beautiful campus to fill in, like your real life slam book, with some weird, funny moments, and some significant, profound ones that make YOU smile back when you finally pass out of the college with the words “Graduated: Class of 2019”.
