Dr. Zubin R Mulla is TISS’s Professor Of The Year 2021! With more than 26 years of industry, research, and teaching experience, Prof. Mulla is, in the words of his students, an extraordinary teacher and transformational leader. Meet Prof. Zubin R Mulla - Assistant Professor At TISS, InsideIIM Professor of The Year In 2021

A Professor at the School of Management and Labour Studies at TISS, Prof. Mulla has taught courses in Quantitative Research Methods, Compensation, Power and Leadership in Organizations, and Moral Leadership. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management from XLRI Jamshedpur, and a Doctorate in Management from XLRI Jamshedpur.

Prior to joining academics in 2005, he had worked in engineering design and management consulting for seven years. As a management consultant, he had led large-scale transformation projects in the areas of manufacturing excellence, business process re-engineering, and service quality.

His areas of research interest include transformational leadership, values, the impact of Indian cultural beliefs on organizational behaviour, the meaning of work, careers, and evidence-based management. He has published several articles in Indian and international journals. His pioneering contribution has been in conceptualizing and validating the construct of Karma-Yoga in management literature.

For executives, he has designed and delivered programs ranging from Power & Influence at the Workplace: The science of getting things done to Behavioral Economics and HRM. He was polite and encouraging and made us go through a very rigorous learning process with multiple assignments and cases but each assignment helped in understanding the topic much much better. In the last year, the whole country struggled in coping up with the pandemic and lockdowns. In this time of crisis, it was the great leadership shown by our teachers and professors to ensure that learning never stops.
