Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
Aditya Birla Group, one of the leading multi-product corporation, has been creating and providing essential products in India and the World since 1857. I feel, it has been an integral part of my life right since I have known to shop for myself. On numerous occasions ABG’s diverse range of brands have been my choice. Any occasion during early college days, and Pantaloons was our go-to place for dresses for that occasion. When we had to prepare ourselves for the Campus placements, Peter England provided us with the wide range of formals to add to our confidence and personality. Even today when I am looking for suits and blazers, Van Heusen and Louis Philippe come to the rescue. Not to forget, carrying warm and fresh food in aluminum foils to school was made possible with Freshwrap.
Not only in Textile and Fashion business, ABG’s contribution in other spheres have been more than significant. From owning India’s largest cement company UltraTech, to becoming the world’s largest carbon black manufacturer, it has been leading the world markets for long. Even in the telecommunication sector, Idea has been responsible for a revolution, courtesy its Internet promotion advertisements. The Birla Balwan fertilizer is one of the most popular fertilizer brands in Indian agricultural markets.
ABG’s contribution to sustainable way of life and national development has been quite remarkable. With an employee base of over 1.2 Lakhs worldwide, it has undoubtedly provided employment opportunities to many. With all its wide range of products, ABG surely is quite big in our lives. It is a true all-rounder!
How did I overcome the challenges?
“A new challenge keeps the brain kicking and heart ticking!” The saying holds a lot of truth. So every time I have a challenge up my way, my kicking brain and ticking heart helps me find ways to take it up and defeat it. The latest challenge life threw at me was maintaining a balance between work and preparations for getting into a good college for MBA.
Management studies has always been my ambition and I started preparing towards achieving it, while I was still working as a software engineer after my under-graduation. Just as I had started my preparations and was setting myself in, serious workloads and expectations at office emerged. I was suddenly required to put in extra hours for my project and also coordinate during US time zone with my US counterparts. It started becoming impossible for me to keep my preparations on and I was losing hope. Weekends were the only time I was able to spare for my preparations and they were definitely not enough. I had almost given up and was about to quit preparations after a month of struggle. One evening while I was sitting on my terrace and preparations had almost stopped, I gave a deep thought over my ambition and the situation. I remember it was the month of August, and we had exactly 3 months for CAT. I had always performed good under pressure and challenges had always been my driving force in the past. I thought about my past experiences and decided to take up the challenge, spare out extra hours, cut down my sleep, so that my work at office is not hampered, while I can still prepare sufficiently towards my goal. At least I would have a story to tell at the end.
This decision was turned out to be the right one. I was able to perform well and get into one of the most reputed institutions VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur. Once again the challenge helped me perform better and I was able to overcome the challenge.
