I turned in my last paper of first year and looked ahead to my next project: Summer internship with Siddheshwar Construction in Pune. It is a small partnership real estate firm with an extra level of personal touch and charm. Well after all in Pune, working with a real estate firm is entire craze that there is among the youth.
The first week “on the job” passed with the whirlwind of understanding about different types of work in real estate industry. As a sales & marketing – Intern, the project that allocated to me was “sales and marketing of flats”. The scope of the project was to research on various constructions going on surrounding the area of given site, search on various advertisements done by competitors and come up with various tag lines and ideas of advertisement. Part of project also include the giving of sales pitch to the customers visiting on the site also making cold calling on the given data. Apart from it I got the chance to get insights from the recently enacted RERA act.
This internship as a part of the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management provided an opportunity in understanding the real estate industry. It also gave insight into the grass-root level work carried out in the real estate industry. The work included Lead Generation, Business development, Customer Engagement and feedback, Market Research, Sales Pitching, Cross Department work, Social Media Branding, Content Writing and Social Media Engagement.
It was gripping and blunt and I could not wait to reach office every morning. Apart from given targets I had decided some targets on daily basis. It helped me to perform extra ordinary in my two months’ internship period. Basically, it is difficult to generate any lead in the real estate firm however, my hard work, dedication and follow ups helped to convert the lead. That was the great achievement in my internship period. It helped me to gain trust in the short span of time in organization. My first month in Siddheshwar Construction gave me an incredible, hands-on experience and deeper understanding of real estate business than I had before.
One of the great things about my job was the diversity of the tasks that I encountered. I had been a part of so many activities done by the Siddheshwar Construction. I was also attended one RERA conference in Pune with my mentor Mr. Sunil Patil. It helped me to get some insights about the RERA act. I was representing Siddheshwar Construction over there.
I was getting tired of the constant, bumper – to – bumper, mind – numbering traffic that I hit every day in Pune, but I was not tired of the work! Which is the good thing, because this internship gave me so much to learn in so less time, which is what I want my Post – graduate job to be.
By the end of the internship, new protocols and processes were created and implemented across the Business Development Team for the effective lead generation and tapping of new clients. My suggestion of enhancing customer relationship by taking timely feedback and meeting with existing clients were implemented in the organization. All in all, it was a rewarding two months.
