In the year 1857 Seth Shiv Narayan Birla planted a sapling which has now turned into a huge tree, bestowing it’s fruits and shadow over thousands of families, i.e.” ADITYA BIRLA GROUP”. Also know as “ABG”. ABG’s role in India’s economic history is tied inextricably with the nation’s quest for political freedom. In the early 20th century Mr. Ghanshyamdas Birla entered into the businesses of Fibre, Aluminium, Cement etc. He was closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi and often accompanied him to round table conference.

After independence of India the flagship company of ABG which is leading supplier of viscose staple fibre  “Grasim Industries Ltd.” was established. Aditya Vikram son of Basant Kumar Birla completed his study from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and took the charge of business. He was farsighted and decided to diversify the business by entering into petrochemicals, telecommunications etc. He was one of the few Indians who expanded their businesses abroad into the countries like Egypt, Philippines and South east Asia. After his untimely death his son “Kumar mangalam Birla” started leading the group. With the vision inherited from his father  at the age of 28 years he continued with an expansion of business. He increased the market capitalisation of ABG from 3.3 billion USD in 1995 to 41 billion USD in 2015. He is a strong endorser of education and therefore he is chancellor of BITS, Chairman of IIM A, IIT Delhi and on advisory board of many reputed institutions.

Today ABG's Value is 44.3 billion USD and is third largest conglomerate in India it has 120,000+ employees and presence in over 35 countries across the globe. It also owns one of the youths favourite apparel brand “Pantaloons”. ABG has became ubiquitous and has it’s presence in all the sectors of market.
