Life at IIM Shillong is unlike that at any other B-School. Here at IIM Shillong, we, the participants of both batches, live as a family. Everyone is on a first name basis with everyone else, and we all stand by each other through thick and thin. We celebrate all our major festivals together, from Diwali and Holi to Dahi Handi and Janmashtami. Spending the entirety of two years with each other, we form life long bonds, characterized by care and loyalty. IIM Shillong puts a major focus on peer learning. Our fellow PGP mates are from diverse backgrounds and have had vastly varying experiences. The facilitators encourage us to learn from each other and expand our knowledge base. We call it KASH. We are all here to build a Knowledge base, a positive Attitude, Skills to apply our knowledge, and Habits to enforce it through discipline.
In the very first week of classes here at IIM Shillong, I had an experience that I am sure I will always cherish. We were in the midst of our week-long course on sustainability. One impromptu group activity included sketching one of our groupmates on a chart paper and presenting to the batch the changes we expect to see in him/her after two years. Our group did attempt to sketch one of our fellow mates, but we failed terribly. Time was running out, and we had nothing to present. In the last few minutes, an idea struck. We took a pair of scissors and cut a face shaped hole in the middle of the chart paper. We presented our chart with each member holding the chart in turns, with our heads protruding from the chart while our group mates talked about the changes they expected to see in us. The batch erupted with appreciative laughter, and even our facilitator commended our unique idea. We all had a wonderful experience giving our first presentation at IIM Shillong.
An Aditya Birla Group company that I would like to work for is ADITYA BIRLA IDEA PAYMENTS BANK LIMITED. I feel that this company has a lot of scopes to grow in today’s world, all with the advent of digitalization in each field and initiatives like Digital India sprouting. This is an area where participation from all segments of the society can be expected. Not only does this sector ease usage for all age groups and/or people from diverse sections of society, but it also allows for easy documentation.
