“What an Idea Sirjee”.
This line is stuck in most of the citizens of our country, as a part of the marketing campaign by idea. Idea was the first network provider of the first mobile phone we bought in our home. This made Aditya Birla Group very special because the transition of waiting outside the PCO to make calls to owning the PCO in our pocket was indeed a special feeling and privilege.
I also remember that in formative years, when I started getting into the size where standard Adult clothes could be bought for me, ‘Peter England’ was one of the first choices of my family. They would prefer the brand for its quality and service it has always provided. To this date, Peter England, Allen Solly, Louis Philippe and other apparel brands from Aditya Birla Group holds a place in our shopping cart. Lastly, the home we build in my hometown, I never saw any other cement other Ultratech. Hence, everyday Aditya Birla Group has touched my life in some or the other way.
Now coming to me personally, there is this one particular incidence which I would like to mention. As a part of my professional life before MDI, I would like to mention about one critical project where we had to build a system for tracking the performance of a major medical drug. There were multiple challenges. My team was very small, consisting of only myself and one other colleague. The client requirements were very dynamic; it changed very frequently. Lastly, the deadlines were very tight. These challenges made the task arduous. Determined to make a mark and also realizing the criticality of the project, I took complete ownership and led half of the project. There were two tools which were to be used in the project, which I self - learned as there was no scope of official training due to the stringent timelines. Secondly, I understood the varying business requirements by staying in close coordination with the clients and also the multiple teams-onshore and development. Thirdly, since the technology backend was new, it had multiple issues. I pro-actively took a lead in getting the issues resolved by working with the concerned development team. With sustained efforts, we successfully delivered the project. This was widely appreciated by the client, and I was also appreciated by my manager. It is noteworthy that the solution we developed was used for the launch of a sales force, and is used by our client to monitor the performance of the drug and for taking major strategic decisions.
This experience taught me that perseverance always overcomes difficulty. There will be situations which would be extremely challenging but after you overcome those, you are full of learnings and experience which would further shape your future. I too took multiple learnings from this. Additionally, it taught me that skills are never a barrier to your aspiration to execute, and that your determination and willingness to learn is what matters. I look forward to more challenging situations in life to widen my horizon further.
