It is difficult to quantify how and when something touches your life. Most of our life is spent never realising that each person in our life has his own life – as complex or even more than ours. From the clothes on our bodies or to the houses we live in, who knew they could come from the same source. The first suit I ever bought was from Louis Philippe. I hardly knew the brand but it was the only piece of clothing that would look good on a skinny boy. It was a suit I would cherish for the rest of my life. It really is funny how small things in life end up mattering the most but we never look back and think on them. Some while back I had met with an accident. I came out unharmed, by God’s grace but you tend to not forget such things. I was lucky my tires didn’t skid too much and pull me under the bus. It’s funny that the tires were lace with Birla Carbon Nano-particles. So Aditya Birla Group was there even when I fell and it helped me get up. I may not always go out and thank them but directly or indirectly the Aditya Birla Group has been alongside me. From its contribution in cement to major dams across the country to creating a network that facilitated communication. Aditya Birla Group has made lives simpler for all of us. It is big not just in size but in what matters.

What Matters is what counts. I remember that I was a shy person – wouldn’t speak up much and was usually at loss of words and hence, loss of friends. I wasn’t until I moved to my undergrad that I became aware that speaking was a talent. I used to look at my younger brother the talk of the circle. He wasn’t just famous for talking he used to spin stories – beautiful stories that would make people laugh. I was jealous and while people may judge me it is the truth. I was envious of my little brother. So I started using his stories as my own in crowds – just to feel wanted. I was a storyteller but I would just write them and not talk – the confidence was yet missing. So moving on I get into my job that actually demanded me to speak. My first interaction had me cornered. My throat was dry and all I could utter was a squeaky yes or no to the client. Soon I understood that the essence to communicating was to tell stories to the client. My inner self gave way and my stories found a new medium. This new-found confidence was what took me to the gates of MBA. I sat there in my interview in my first suit gloating at my stories ad giving even the interviewers an occasional chuckle. I made past it – my fears, my own obstacles and moved forward to be where I am today. And for what it’s worth it is Big for me.
