Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, headquartered in World, Mumbai, India. The group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. It has many renowned businesses including Vodafone, Ultra Tech being a few. It started its journey even before India got independence and has grown from strength to strength since then. It started its first business in the 20th century form the textile industry and has now expanded to the telecom industry, the financial services industry, Fashion, etc. It has played a major role in contributing to the Indian economy since Independence and many of its products and services are common household names. It has been successful in its mission to be a premium global conglomerate with a clear focus on each business. Each of its business arms is in the top 5 or 10 of that sector in terms of brand value and market share. Its strong brand equity along with strong product innovation and effective leadership has ensured they deliver superior value to their shareholders, employees, customers and most importantly to the society as a whole.
Today the Aditya Birla Group is a $40 billion (Rs.2.45 trillion) corporation and many of the group firms are in the league of Fortune 500 companies. It has over 120,000 employees from 42 nations and operates in 36 countries. Notably, 50% of the Aditya Birla Group’s revenue comes from its overseas operations.
Challenges Overcome to achieve my Ambitions
All people have obstacles and challenges in their life, but it how we react to them that defines us. Just like everyone I have had many objectives in my life and challenges accompanying them. Even if I have not been able to come out on top each time, It has been has life learning lesson for me, which has only improved me as a person. When I was doing my B.Tech from IIT Bhubaneswar, I had taken up the herculean task of conducting its first ever Entrepreneurship Summit. It was a mammoth task as there were already 2 major functions existing in our college hence securing funding for it from sponsors around was a tough task. Also getting students to work for this new event because we had to establish all the new events, plans, operations without having any existing template or experience was another challenge. In the end we could secure a decent budget mostly due to our perseverance and new relations we build with the companies around Bhubaneswar. Also, we could get around 100 students in our team once we did our internal marketing and made them realize the importance of this event for the college in the long term and also the kind of exposure they would get while working for it. The event was a massive hit and we were praised by all the stakeholders involved. Just like this instance I have always navigated many tough situations through perseverance and smart work, but most importantly through my vision of what I want to achieve.
