How I overcame challenges in my life and achieved my goal ?
Coming from a middle class family with father getting transferred across several places, it was kind of difficult for me to settle at one place . Entering the city life after spending around 12 years in PSU colonies , it was quite difficult to adjust to the new ambience. People and their mentalities were different. Distraction was something which started to creep into my mind slowly.
So far life was good until I met with a small accident. While trying to practice a karate kick , I slipped on my hind leg and landed on my tailbone which is known as coccyx in the medical community. I started to feel a sting of pain everytime I used to get up after sitting down for few moments. I was concerned , my parents were concerned , it was year 2009 and I was in my class 10 just half a year away from appearing in my ICSE exams. Consulting several orthopaedic doctors and general physicians I came to know that it will take time to heal or there had to be an operation. Life was becoming extremely difficult, simple activities which we take for granted like lying down on back , sitting and leaning back were becoming challenging and pain was growing with every passing day. Some painkillers were prescribed, hot water shake etc. but results were almost nil. I was getting depressed , no one to talk to because people won't understand such a thing unless they experience it themselves. But at that time I learnt to be self dependant. Life gave me a message , I had to change myself . I checked out several blogs and websites, researching crazily , I wanted to get back to normal life , desperately. I was surprised to find there is an online community for people with coccyx problems . I started reading it and getting to know about the people who were or are suffering. I got to know about some yoga postures which greatly helps in overcoming such lower back problems. I started practicing yoga regularly. Bhujangasana proved very helpful, slowly I was gaining back confidence, studied as much as I could and ended up scoring 92% in ICSE. Thus my journey started . I heard a quote which says “Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional” . Yoga has become a part of my life now , I am also an MBA student at Narsee monjee Bangalore campus . I worked with ITC infotech for two years before joining NM.
