WHY ADITYA BIRLA GROUP IS BIG IN MY LIFE?
Founded in 1857 by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla, the Aditya Birla Group today is one of the largest groups in the world. During the pre-independence era, Aditya Birla Group’s founding father Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla had already setup industries in sectors such as cement, chemicals, textiles & fibres and aluminium. But it was the post-independence era, when Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla dared to dream of taking this group to the global stage, long before globalization became a buzzword in India. He established the first India based multinational, putting India on the world map.
Since then there was no looking back. Today, the Aditya Birla Group is a USD 44.3 billion MNC which operates in 34 countries across 5 continents. The Aditya Birla Group has its dominance in various sectors like metals, cement, textiles, carbon black, telecom, financial services, fashion & retail, agri-business, insulators and mining. The largest aluminium rolling company in the world, largest recycler of aluminium in the world, largest producer of carbon black in the world, No. 1 in retail fashion in India, largest manufacturer of linen fabric etc all achievements are of Aditya Birla Group.
We Indians take great pride to see a company from India doing wonders not only on its home pitch but also on the global stage. Today, in India there will be very few people who might not have experienced an Aditya Birla Group product. Aditya Birla Group is really important to me. It has impacted my life by giving me many sweet memories through its various brands like ‘Freshwrapp Aluminium Foil’ which not only used to keep the food fresh but also came into play as a cricket ball and the notebooks were our cricket bat. When we were renovating our house the cement we used before was ultratech cement. The labour had really a tough time to break the wall. Though it wasted a lot of time but it surely gave a sense of safety that we had been living in a safe and solid structure.
While in fashion industry brands like Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Ralph Lauren, Hackett London etc have really served customers with not only fine quality garments and accessories but also gave many people a chance to get associated with such world famous brands. When it comes to telecom, Idea (now Vodafone Idea Ltd.) was always there with me whenever I was travelling. It always kept me connected to my family without any network hassle.
The Aditya Birla Group has always been there for its every customer and has played a big role in everybody’s life. For electricity it provides insulators , for textiles it provides fibre, for tyres it provides carbon black and so on. Aditya Birla Group has catered to the needs of its customers not only in India, but also in abroad.

Overcoming challenges to achieve my ambitions
Life is a race if you don't run fast you will be like a broken andaa (egg), this dialogue from the movie 3 idiots to some extent reflects the competition and challenges being faced by an individual. But in reality everybody is and should be running his own race. Everybody has his own time. But during all this, life keeps on putting challenges in front of an individual. Facing it or not, is always an option but one should face it with full courage, whatever be the result.
Roy T. Bennett rightly said: Life is about accepting the challenges along the way, choosing to keep moving forward, and savoring the journey.
Like every individual I have also faced challenges in my life. As I am 24, the challenges I faced were related to academics, work and personal life. Sometimes I failed and sometimes I got the taste of success. I have been into sports all my school life and my mother always used to say that devoting so much time in sports will definitely affect your academics. I took it as a challenge. I not only kept participating in sports but also managed to perform consistently well in my academics. While I was working in my first job there was a situation where the yarn we sold to one of my customers came out to be defective. We had a policy that a customer can make one roll out of the yarn and if there was any defect then the customer can return the whole lot of yarn. But that customer used the whole lot of yarn for his fabric and then complained about the yarn. The challenge was that without losing the customer and bearing the loss I had to settle this dispute. So, I somehow managed to convince my MD and we reached upon an agreement of 50:50 settlement.
The challenge that I faced in my personal life was to manage my work and my CAT preparation side by side. I faced it and gave my best and in the end got a great opportunity to join IMI, New Delhi. I believe that if a person decides to get out of his comfort zone then he will automatically face challenges and will come out of his shell. Everybody should get out in the sea of opportunities and face every situation and challenge with full courage to discover the true champion within themselves.
