HOW I OVERCAME MY CHALLENGES TO MAKE IT BIG
To become a leader in any sphere, one has to conquer his/her deep rooted inhibitions and fears. As I aspire to become a future leader in the management world. I would like to share my experience from childhood that how I conquered one of my fears. One of my biggest fear was “FEAR FOR FAILURE”. With this kind of fear/attitude in my thought process, I was unable to partake in any competition, be it in sports or academics. If I was not confident enough of anything, I wouldn’t even try to attempt it fearing for a failure. I thought failing is a sin. This attitude was hurting me and my family mentally. Then my parents described me the stories of successful people who failed before they succeeded. Stories of people such as Thomas Edison, Oprah Winfrey, and Henry Ford influenced and inspired me a lot and also convinced me in the fact that failures are stepping stones of success. I thought, when people from such adversities in their life could make it big, why don’t I give it a try? I somehow gathered courage and starting trying things without thinking about the outcomes. I slowly learnt from my mistakes and started gaining confidence. From then on I did not look back. And here I am in IIM Raipur sharing my experiences with the world.
My mantra since then is – “Try and you fail, you learn. And when learning happens you will definitely succeed”.
