Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
It has been just three weeks having joined a B-school and one of the very first things that we have realised is that one needs to be a master at multi-tasking and time management. While it may be difficult to adjust in our initial days, we have to accept the reality that corporate life is going to be no less hectic. While performing on various fronts may seem difficult to most of us, there are a few companies who are equally potent players in whichever industry they enter. Talking of such companies, Aditya Birla Group is one which stands out.
Founded in 1857, by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla, today the company is present in thirty-five countries worldwide and is one of the Fortune 500 companies. The company operates in branded apparels, telecom, carbonblack, fertilizers and financial services to name a few.
Aditya Birla Group is not just a big part of my life, infact it is a way of life for me. Even before I learned to speak, ABG brands have made my life comfortable. Be it infant wear or suits for business conclaves, ‘Pantaloons’ has always been the place where I have found it all. It would not be an exaggeration if I say ABG brands are omnipresent in my life. From making me feel safe in homes made by Ultratech Cement to protecting me and my family at all times in the form of ‘Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance’, ABG is like a guardian angel in my life.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
When life begins we are new to the world, we feel lost having come out of the comfort of the mother’s womb. As life progresses we realise that this feeling of getting lost and being in a situation which is not really in our comfort zone will be perpetual. What needs to be done is adapting fast to the changing scenarios and understand that in order to progress we can never settle for what we have.
Performing on a stage has been something that I have aimed for all my life. Be it drama or stand-up comedy or a piano recital I have always wanted to perform in front of people. However, I faced one drawback in this aim of mine. The very thing which I aimed for all my life was also one of my biggest challenges. ‘Stagefright’ is something which has troubled me right from my childhood. Getting up on the stage and forgetting the lyrics, trying to make new dialogues in between a play because I could not recall my dialogues, playing the wrong notes in the piano, I have experienced all such misfortunes. It was disappointing to see hours of practice go in vain just because of fear.
Every time I made a mistake I kept a note of it so that I do not repeat it in the future. Not giving up on my ambition and embracing failure made me overcome the challenges in the path of success.
