Aditya Birla Group is one of the highly renowned business conglomerates in the country. It has its presence across diverse sectors such as financial services, textiles, chemicals, aluminium, cement and telecom.
Aditya Birla Group holds a significant place in my life. I was born and brought up in the town of Renukoot situated in Sonbhadra District of Uttar Pradesh. It is the location of Hindalco Industries Ltd., a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group. The plant commissioned operations in Renukoot in 1962 and is among the largest fully integrated aluminium manufacturing facilities. The chemicals division of Grasim Industries and Birla Carbon are also situated in Renukoot. The Dalla Cement Works which is owned and operated by UltraTech Cement is situated a few miles from Renukoot. As a result, I have great familiarity with the Aditya Birla Group entities and once I even got an opportunity to visit the Hindalco Industries which was a great experience.
The group companies have contributed a lot over the years for the development of Renukoot town and the nearby areas. The local economy to a great extent revolves around these companies as they provide employment to thousands of people in the area. In addition, the group companies have played a major role in improving and uplifting the infrastructure and quality of life in the township by establishing schools, a full-fledged hospital, clean and spacious residential colonies and a supermarket.
Moreover, I have used some or the other product manufactured by the companies of the Aditya Birla group on a regular basis. Some of these products include Freshwrapp aluminium foil produced by Hindalco Industries and mobile sim card by Vodafone Idea. Further, I have often visited the Pantaloons store of Aditya Birla Fashion Retail Ltd. for shopping.
Thus,I can definitely state that I am truly privileged and proud to have such a long association with the Aditya Birla Group and it has had a great impact and influence in my life.
Challenges faced by me and how I overcame them
I have certainly faced challenges of various magnitudes in my life. The various challenges that we face in our lives teach us how to overcome adversities and they bring out the best in us.
I can vividly recall the period when I had fallen ill just a month before my CAT exams in 2017. I wanted to pursue MBA after my graduation and accordingly I planned to appear for the CAT exam. My preparations were in full swing with the CAT 2017 only a few weeks away. But unfortunately, I was down with high fever and was hospitalized for eight days. It was a tough time for me as I was suffering due to poor health on one hand and was losing precious time for final preparation and revision for the exam on the other. I felt dejected as thoughts of a poor performance in the CAT exam crossed my mind every now and then. It was hard to believe that my months of hard work and focus would not come to fruition. But, eventually, my fever subsided and I was able to make full recovery after a few days. Although I had lost a considerable amount of crucial time for fine tuning my preparations, I had full confidence in myself as I had prepared well enough. In the remaining couple of weeks, I just focused on giving a few mock tests and revising the basic concepts. Ultimately, I was able to perform well enough to score a decent percentile and secure admission in IIM Raipur.
Other than this, I have faced challenges in various forms at different points in my life. For instance, I struggled to cope with the new environment in a new city when I first left home for higher education after completing school. I got valuable life lessons from such experiences which helped me to grow into a mature and strong person.
