ABG – Building Trust

This is one of the stories that I remember from my father where I have realized the impact of ABG from the Nation to a person’s life. The construction of our house was going on and in around the 2nd month of the construction, I saw almost all of the cement bags were taken back making me curious to discuss the same with my father. My dad showed me one of the walls which were cemented around a week back and there were some visible cracks. I was still confused to which he told me we were using the XYZ cement and few of the walls have already started showing the cracks although the builder was fine and the products used were of high quality. While visiting his office he saw that road construction was going on, he then stopped for a while and saw the Ultratech Cement being used for the construction. After talking for a few minutes with the contractor he realized what was wrong in our house’s construction when the huge projects like roads whose durability is more than a century are using something, it must be because of a reason. Then without delaying further, we switched from XYZ cement to ABG’s Ultratech cement for our house. This incident happened around five years back and till date, we are proud of being a customer of ABG. ABG doesn’t have customers, they have a family which is the whole world and I am lucky to be a part of this big family.

Impromptu speaking is my biggest fear. I realized this when I once went for the recruitment drive for the Rotract Club during my graduation. We were asked to perform various activities which involved such impromptu speaking. I got really nervous and was in tears. I returned home, did not talk to anyone and just lay down in bed. I was completely shattered and disappointed with myself. I had lost all confidence. Even my parents started noticing a change in my behavior. It was after this when I decided not to go for MBA as a career because according to me MBA demanded what I lagged.

After college I got placed in a company and I started working there. All this while, I tried to work on this weakness of mine. I started to become more confident about the work I do. I made sure that I was a part of the client presentations. Initially, it was difficult but then with experience I learned. To my amazement our team was able to convert a client for the company. This increased my confidence by a significant level. After almost 2 years of work experience I again gave a thought to my MBA plan. I wrote CAT, got a decent percentile. I started preparing well for the interviews. My first B-School interview was a great learning experience and increased my confidence. I realized that I had confidence in my voice. It was the stepping stone towards my MBA journey as I finally got admission in one of the top B-Schools of the country. I am glad that irrespective of the challenges I faced I did not give up.
