Challenge. A challenge can be viewed by people as many things, some consider it a difficulty, some a task and to some challenge just says, “I’m inevitable”, something for all the Avenger fans out there. To me challenge is just another opportunity provided by life to me to prove myself to MYSELF. Irrespective of the outcome of the challenge I know that I’ll always give my everything and that in its own is a huge bonus. As far as accepting challenges goes, I believe that’s the way forward in life for everyone looking to be better than what they have been today. Following is an account of my experience which taught me life is good when you work hard and enjoy what you do but its more enjoyable when you come across challenges and win over them.

My previous employer was applying for QMS standards certification in July of 2017. I worked as a site planning engineer at a construction firm that was about 18 months old by then.

The challenge for me being a guy with just 11 months of work experience after Engineering was to understand the principles defined by a Quality Management System, their extension to the departmental standard operating procedure and hence closure of the loop. This system was to be implemented at project site level within 2 months. This is thus far the most significant challenge I have faced in my life. The process started out in the month of April 2017 and completed with the Internal Audit in 1st week of June,2017. The certification audit during July,2017 proved successful and hence the organisation was now QMS certified company through the ISO 9001 standards.

The way I chose to approach this challenge was to initially plan my activities, assign weight and allot time. I analysed the most optimal method to achieve the highest points in the first 2/3rds of the duration and rest 1/3rd of the time to thoroughly verify the already completed tasks and then take up fresh tasks. By doing so during the first month itself I attained the confidence of completing new tasks efficiently, also the inner strength to understand nothing was beyond me and it only required focus and clarity to overcome challenges. This strategy of phase planning was the learning during the process and this learning is something I believe can help me overcome challenges throughout my life. Overcoming challenges is the way forward for us all.
