“The Golden rule I can think of is the fact that you must follow your passion and do something that’s close to your Heart” – Kumar Mangalam Birla.
Since the very beginning I was an average scorer in academics part but very soon I realized that I have a passion for sports. First, part of hockey team, then cricket and finally football, I could see myself attaching to the game. Representing Ludhiana at state level competition in football and being named the captain of football team in college gave me immense pride and boosted my confidence. I found myself in a tricky situation when I was in the final year of my engineering college. Everyone was so worried about the placement and the pressure was taking a toll on me too. I was not being shortlisted for many core mechanical firms. After many rejections, I was finally shortlisted for a computer science firm. I started the placement procedure for that company and cleared all the rounds. That is when I found myself at a crossroad; should I switch my career path to computer science, a field in which I had limited interest. That is when i thought about the one thing I have connected with throughout my life which was sports, so I decided to follow my passion even though it involved a pay cut and a field which is not yet well defined, especially in India. With the guidance of one my seniors I got a six month internship at a start up in Gurgaon called “LEH LEH Sports”. This incident redefined my ambition in life. From having no fixed domain to start career in, my passion gave me a goal in my life and my journey till now has given me confidence to keep on pursuing it.
“Focus on Your Passion, when we work hard at our passion it becomes a second nature. Work then becomes a hobby” said Kumar Mangalam Birla. I'm on my way to follow this wise man.
