Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli, or IIM Trichy as it is affectionately called, is one the premier business schools India.
Located in Trichy, equidistant from Bangalore and Chennai makes it easier for students Travel along with their family for various events hosted at the institute. It has been 10 days since I first walked through the hallowed hall of this campus, a campus with state of the art infrastructure that puts most of the other BSchools to shame. IIM Trichy is unique in many ways starting from the vision of its director to the BSchools events hosted by it. The institute currently offers PGPM, its flagship course, EPGP for working professions and FPM- fellowship program in management. When I had to choose among the various BSchools in India offering admission I took admission at IIM Trichy based on the below factors.
Academics:
Mentored by IIM Bangalore during its early stages, IIM Trichy has one of the most rigorous academic programmes among the IIMs. The fact that although founded just 7 years ago, IIM Trichy has many of its alumni among the top management across various domains is a testimony to this academic rigour. Having about one third of its batch with over 3 years’ experience across various domains helps in bringing diverse perspectives about the theories being taught in class. IIM Trichy has currently 35 permanent, all of them from world-class institutions. All the professors are extremely friendly and even goes to great pains to explain various topics.
B-Schools Competitions and fests:
IIM Trichy is the first IIM to be part of the CFA Institute University recognition programme and has won the CFA competition in 4 out of the 5 times it has competed. It is not all work and no play at IIM Trichy. Dhruva, IIM Trichy's flagship Business-Cultural Fest, hosts several events like Sunburn. Among the several new IIMs, IIM Trichy is one of the few IIMs that is allowed to take part in BSchool competitions like Mahindra War Room, Godrej Loud etc.
Sports:
As the saying goes, all work and no play makes Johnny a lazy boy. IIM Trichy has ensured that its students receive a sufficient amount of support from the institute to further their interests in various sports. IIM Trichy has left its mark on Sangram a competition among the IIMs in the south – IIM Kozhikode, IIM Trichy, IIM Bangalore and IIM Vizag. Campus Life :
IIM Trichy has a one of the best campuses amongst the IIMs. Beautifully placed a little away from the city there is a sense of serenity here that one cannot put in words. Although the days are hectic, I hope to make these 2 years the best 2 years of my life!.
These were the factors I took into consideration when I had to choose a BSchool. After being on the campus for just 10 days I can say with absolute certainty that this is one of the best decisions I have made in my life!
