"A challenge which brings the best out of me"

I have been switching places frequently since childhood because of my father’s occupation. My father is in paramilitary force hence we must switch places in every 3 year across the country. Till the age of 4-5 it didn’t affect much, but later it become difficult for me to move to a new place leaving behind everything including friends, school and neighbors. New places bring new challenges every time, be it new demographic, new people, new culture. Being a child, it was hard to acquaint with these changes every time. Like any other child, I too wanted to have a great set of friends with whom I can spend my whole day. But as soon as I get comfortable to any place, it was time to move another.

My biggest challenge come when I was in class 10 and my father got transferred again. It was somewhere around July and I had reached to an entirely new town with no friends and knowing no one. I had lived for more than 3 years at my previous place and had a great time there, hence it become more difficult this time. I remember the day I reached to this new town. I couldn’t sleep and cried entire night.  Next morning my body was shivering, and I had fever. The pain of being separated from friends was unbearable as a child. Memories from the past was haunting me every time. Apart from school time, I had confined myself entirely to my room. I didn’t interact with anyone for 1 month. I was praying daily that some miracle will happen, and I will be back to my old friends. I could not be able to study and was lagging the course. After 1 month I finally realized that I must accept the truth and move ahead otherwise I’ll worsen the situation. I started interacting with new peoples, making new friends and slowly but gradually I was able to overcome my past. Finally, I cleared my 10th examination with 90% marks.

The thing which I hated the most in my entire childhood – Transfer, becomes blessing in disguise for me. I had lived in more than 20 states of India till now for different purposes like training, studies, job or internship. With such experience in childhood, going to new places, meeting new people, understanding and adopting with new culture become a cakewalk for me. Be it Kashmir-Tamil Nadu or Gujrat- Assam, I have been everywhere. Experiencing so much diversity and interacting with so many cultures helped me to bring out the best version of me.
