Human existence lies not in just breathing and eating or simply being alive, but to dream and find a purpose to live for. Since childhood, I have been dreaming and now the time has come to turn my dreams into reality and fulfill the purpose of life. While stepping into that, I would like to kick-start with a white-collar job in a big shot organization like Aditya Birla Group.
Founder Ghanshyam Das Birla with his leadership capability transformed his vision into reality in 1919 with a Jute manufacturing company. Long before the global industrial uprising, Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla forwarded the legacy by introducing India to the world in 1969. Now, the Aditya Birla group is a premium conglomerate putting their flags on many major sectors, such as cement, non-ferrous metal, textile, telecommunication, chemicals, insulators, agribusiness, financial services, mining, garments, retail, carbon black and IT industries. Operating in different parts of the world and having their feet across many sectors Aditya Birla Group will give me an opportunity to learn a lot about these industries.
I have been following various pioneering brands of Aditya Birla Group but as a young female professional Allen Solly and Van Heusen have always given me a chance to mark my fashion statement at work, interview or any casual get together. All the premium clothing brands of Aditya Birla Group has accomplished an imminent fashionable position in a highly aggressive readymade market in India in a relatively short period. Allen Solly’s first ever media campaign “Fun at work” for women wear range features the idea of freedom of self-expression, set in the modern work culture that today's women can relate to.
The vision of Aditya Birla Group is to ‘’Build an enriched life for their employees by ensuring their overall well-being and improvement of their quality of life’’. For the deserving candidate, the sky is the only limit in ABG. With different programs like Vitamin H, Life unlimited, etc ABG not only cares for the health of their employees but also their families. With a great value and perfect work culture, ABG provides flexible work arrangement. Through different programs, ABG provides support to their employees even after retirement. ABG also cares for the overall physical and mental wellbeing of their employees.
Leading India’s conglomerate Aditya Birla group actively contribute to the social and economic development of the communities. Through the CSR, ABG has put a smile on 7.5 million people in the last 50 years. It has reached 5000 villages, treated over 1 million people, established 5000 medical camps and 20 hospitals, immunized 70 million children against polio, runs 56 schools, provides solar light for 4.5 lakh students, provides meals to 63000 students daily and skill trained over 93000 people.
Since I have summed up the positive things about the Aditya Birla group of Companies, I think I will eventually gather all that is required to be a competitive part of them. IIM Trichy shall always be my carving stone of my thoughts, my solution of my career crossroads. Long live all our dreams!
PART-2
how I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
In the depth of the failure and anxiety, there lies a survival instinct…in the wild, it includes having prey. In the civilized society of humanity, it includes recognition, material pleasure, and emotional stability.
I believe that an individual is the culmination of his own experiences. My experiences have broadened my perspective, given me a good understanding of life and laid out clear goals to aim for. I belong to a highly educated family from the northeastern part of the country, which is Guwahati, Assam. I have done my Bachelor's in Petroleum Engineering from a prestigious university of Assam.
My interest & inclination towards "Problem Solving'' has brought me forth to seek and experience to work under various startups. While in college, I was associated with a leading network marketing company. In a short span of time, I was able to expand my team from scratch and generate a business of about Rs 5 lakh for the company by primary techniques. Though this little achievement plant a seed of entrepreneurship within me, my academics took a back seat. I could not find the right balance between my studies and my interest. Hence, I got compartmental in two subjects and not allowed to appear in the end-term examination for one particular subject due to my low attendance. Even then also I continue to associate myself with startups. I was instrumental in building an award-winning organic tea manufacturing brand Zesty. Also to learn more about the mechanics of general management I went ahead to do an internship at the country’s premier business institute, IIM Ahmedabad under Prof. G Raghuram (Dean, 2015). Those two months of internships gave me a strong essence of doing an MBA from a premier institute as I realized the knowledge gap and lack of structure in my thoughts. Also, by that time I realized the importance of studies and maintaining a good academic profile. With time management and hard work from the 6th semester onwards I was able to maintain an average of cgpa 8 in all the semesters. Since then I have learned the importance of maintaining balance, prioritizing the events of life.
After graduation, I moved to big cities to work with fast-growing startups to help with and learn from improved process, outcomes & tools of management craft. Even though it demands so much effort and time from me somehow by maintaining a good balance between my work and CAT preparation I have managed to make my place in IIM Trichy.
Life is always meant to be a challenge. But survival is not just the basic requirement, it’s to live life and accept the challenges and make life more meaningful. I have seen many challenges throughout my life, it tries to pull me down many times I go down only to bounce back harder and higher.
