When I read the word ABG, the one thing that comes to mind is “Always been going”. Started out in 1967, this brand had literally and figuratively touched the lives of a lot of people from different generations.

Going back in time, cherishing my childhood memories, I still have a faint memory of climbing and playing with the piles of cement bags that were lined in front of my home. We were renovating our home at that time. From that time, until now, it is fascinating how much the ABG group had been a part of my life. When I joined my engineering college, I did a bulk of my purchase from Pantaloons at Coimbatore. I still hold my pantaloons card in my wallet and prefer to purchase in their outlets. The suit I wear for my B-School is of Louis Phillipe. The Smart Casuals I wear are from Van Heusen. The casuals I bought are from Pantaloons. The network I use is Vodafone-Idea. None of this was intentional. Without knowing my life and preference were shaped around the ABG group and I am glad to be a part of the same.

Throughout history, the Aditya Birla group has always been an unstoppable force which ventures into different business and revolutionizes the industry. From Textile to telecom, carbon to copper, insurance to insulators, Aditya Birla group has placed itself as a mammoth in the Indian industry and is growing strongly worldwide. They’ve set a benchmark for how a multinational company should be. A company everyone aspires to be in.

I’ve done my bachelor's degree in Automobile Engineering. Before joining my engineering, the one thing I had in my mind was to join in an Automobile company. But, to my fate, I had difficulty in adapting to the college environment as that was the first time, I am getting out of my comfort zone i.e., my home and hometown. This reflected in my grades. In the first semester, I failed a few subjects. I felt that my dream of joining an automobile company will just be a mere dream and never a reality. I was disheartened for the next 2 semesters. Then I picked myself up and dusted myself off and said to myself, failing in a few subjects shouldn’t stop me from getting into the company I want. I gave my best and cleared off all my arrears in the next semester. I started studying seriously and concentrated on improving my grade point average. By the end of the third year, I had enough GPA to be called in for a written round. I attended a few interviews with some automobile companies but I couldn’t crack the GD-PI. Then the dream company of every automobile engineer came for recruitment; Daimler India. I cleared the written test round and was shortlisted for GD-PI. I learned from my mistake and cleared that round too. But I was struck by fate again. My dream company mailed everyone who was shortlisted that they don’t have any vacancies that year and didn’t recruit anyone from our batch. I felt that all my efforts were wasted. All those sleepless nights, skipping parties and events to study didn’t give me what I wanted. I was placed in another service-based IT company. Finally, passed my Engineering with flying colours. But still, I couldn’t give up on my dream. I have put too much effort to just quit. Once I was out of college, I had a waiting period of around 7 months before I have to join the IT company. I wanted to try again for my dream company. I directly contacted the HR in the company and it was of no use. Finally, I got hope once again when I saw an opening on Naukri.com in my dream company. I directly contacted the particular functional head and expressed my desire to join his department. He got me another chance. I cleared all the rounds and attended the final interview after which I didn’t get updates from the company. Wherever I contacted them, there was no concrete response. There were only 2 weeks left till I join the IT company in which I was already selected. I was preparing to join that company. I was ready to accept my fate and give my best there. At that moment I got the call. The most anticipated call in my life. I got through. I got an opportunity to work in my dream company. I’ve achieved my dream. It was the most memorable moment of my life. If I had given up at any point, whenever I was struck down by failure, I’d have not reached this place in life. I learned a valuable lesson that the only thing that’s between a person and his dream is a lack of trying or giving up. Arise awake and stop not till your goal is reached.
