Living in Mumbai suburbs, it is highly unlikely that one has not used or are not acquainted with the products by Aditya Birla Group. On my part, I got introduced to these products when I was probably a teenager. Right from casuals from American Eagle, party wears from Allen Solly to Formals from Peter England, I have always preferred ABG. And, ‘More’ has always been our first choice to get fresh food at reasonable price. But, more importantly, there are activities and initiatives which ABG carry out that make a lot of difference to the society. These CSR activities actually empower our developing country acting as a helping hand to the government. I may not be the direct beneficiary of these initiatives but one of my close friend is. So, I am going to tell about the experience he had with ABG which actually affected me and made me look at ABG in high regards. This friend of mine, Tanmay Sharma, was my room-mate when I was working for Infosys in Mysore. His hometown was some village in Madhya Pradesh. He was extremely brilliant and so was his brother. His brother was preparing for UPSC along with other government exams, probably to get a good stable job and improve his family condition. As Tanmay mentioned, their village had very poor electric facility and people suffered a lot. Students studied under kerosene lamps and there was constant fear of poisonous insects  and reptiles venturing into their houses. Under the initiative taken up by ABG, his family along with many others received solar lamps. These were high quality lamps which could provide light for 24 hrs by charging only for 4 hrs under sun. It was also provided with mobile charging port. This facility was tremendously helpful to students as well as families residing in that village. Looking at his happiness, I was able to imagine what sort of happiness ABG must have given to millions of people in one way or the other.
