My first encounter with Aditya Birla Group goes back to school days when my mother used to pack my lunch in Freshwrapp. Freshwrapp made sure that my lunch was the same hot and delicious as when my mother packed it with love. With time, Aditya Birla Group has played a major part in my life. During my undergraduate college, I brought my first business formal suit from Peter England for my interview. This Peter England suit boosted me with confidence. The advertisement campaign for Idea “Walk and Talk” made me realize the importance of the physical activity in our busy life.
Ultratech cement is indeed India’s no.1 cement company. Insights from the website of Ultratech cement helped me a lot in the below mentioned construction project. Birla Sun Life Insurance has helped me to insure the lives of whom I care about. It has also provided accidental cover for my on site workers. I am a proud shareholder of Hindalco and Grasim. These companies have given good returns on my investment.
In all respects, Aditya Birla Group justifies its tagline “Build a better, sustainable way of life for the weaker sections of society and raise the country’s human development index.” It has not just improved my life , but of billions of lives and will continue to do so.
"Challenges are what make life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful".
Having been born and brought up in a business family, risk-taking is a part of business code I have seen while growing up. Continuing on those lines , I decided to construct a 1000 square feet house and sell it profitably within 8 months after my college. I knew that this was a very demanding task and would throw several challenges at different points of time.
Right from financing the project to finding a buyer was an uphill task. I had to face several operational challenges as well such as shortage of labour, delayed delivery of materials , unreliable sub-contractors and unaccounted costs. Lack of detailed knowledge about electrical wiring, pipeline setup and other technicalities proved to be another hurdle in my path.
I conducted market research and studied the dynamics of the construction industry of the local area. I had conducted surveys in the local area in order to understand the customer’s needs and expectations from a low budget house. Consultations with technicians and construction industry players helped me in taking informed decisions. I had made a provision in the budget for rise in the cost of materials. I had made sure that all the on-site workers had an accidental insurance cover. Flexibility in work schedule ensured that adverse weather conditions did not impact our work. Cutting costs without a compromise in the quality was the skill which helped the project to be efficient and feasible.
Nevertheless, I overcame all the challenges with my keen love, enthusiasm and zeal to live life the ABG way- big and grand.
