Late 90’s, West Bengal.

A little girl visits the Jayashree Textile Mills, in Rishra on the last day of her grandfather’s work. Amidst the buzz of the modestly organized farewell party, she tries to read the banner beneath the company logo – A D I T Y A  B I R L A. For a 5-year old it’s difficult to pronounce, but not difficult to understand that the words are of significance.  After all, she has heard the story numerous times – how a lot of textiles mills shut down but grandpa and his family thrived because his factory is a good place to work.

Till date, I have been thankful to Aditya Birla Group for the environment, the opportunity they had given to my grandfather and thousands of other mill and textile workers in West Bengal.  At a time, when industries in West Bengal were facing a grim future, Aditya Birla Groups’ stronghold became a stepping stone for common Indians to survive. Aditya Birla Nuvo’s astounding performance – becoming the only producer and leading global player in viscose staple fiber – hasn’t failed to surprise me. The name of Jayashree Mills has featured in top ten textile factories in the country, and their corporate social responsibility encompassing education and healthcare is a boon for the present employees.

It is tough to establish a franchise. It is tougher to instill values into a company. But it takes an insurmountable dedication, passion, management, and hard work to create a brand that becomes a household name. Aditya Vikram Birla once said, “The most important lesson in management is that major investments should be made in selection, training and building up of people. “  A company that believes that the human resource is its most important resource is a force to be reckoned with.

ABG has also ensured that even mundane businesses like cement, metals, and telecom is envisioned keeping sustainability in mind. The recently launched ‘Livaeco’ fabric, partnering with the fashion brand ‘W’ is a step forward towards sustainable fashion.From the construction of my house using Ultratech Cement to using the network of ‘Vodafone – Idea’, the name of Aditya Birla has become inseparable with everyday commodities. Recently, when my father decided to build a modular kitchen, he blindly went for Birla Aerocon pipes without a shadow of a doubt.

In the end, a good brand building requires trust. And trust it seems is a two-way road. From earning the trust of that 5-year-old girl to earning the trust this 25-year-old with their economic and ecological solutions, ABG has succeeded in earning the confidence of every Indian person.  Delivering quality products, exceeding expectations and envisioning a greener future are the reasons why I believe in Aditya Birla Group, and so does a million other people.
