I was 11 years old when I asked my dad if I could join a Boarding School. Not just any boarding school, I had one in mind, owing to the fact that a cousin already studied there. I had heard all about it, made mental notes of the admission process and thought of ways to convince my mom in case I made it. Yes, 11 years old with a thorough plan way before the process had even begun.

It’s been 13 years since and the reason why I’ve made it to wherever I’ve wanted to, remains the same-My Parents.

They say, behind every successful girl is her supportive parents. It’s true. However, convincing didn’t come easy. The system at my house is that if anything is to be pitched to my father, it must be thoroughly prepared for, with all contingency questions. You get one window, one window of a possible yes, and you just can’t afford to miss that!

But isn’t this all parents ever!?

So, when I secured my first job, and received my first hard earned money, I recalled one thing that dad always says- ‘Be what you want to be and be the best in it! You wish to be a waiter; be the best waiter that the world has seen!’ And that stuck by me. And so, when I kick-started my corporate journey, I had to acknowledge the best advice I had ever received with the best that was out there. With a rough estimate of how much a good shirt would cost, I set out and selected a Louis Philippe blue colored, formal one, and addressed it along with a note, The Best for the Best!
Upon receiving it, apart from the customary scolding of how I shouldn’t have done this, there was joy in his tone, pride in his words and emotions in his voice. That is a phone call that is the most invaluable and irreplaceable.  And that is what the brand ABG has been in my life- An indomitable part of this memory!

With its roots in multiple diverse fields, I am sure this is not my story alone!

Striving to validate and do justice to the faith that my parents had put in me, I constantly aim to put in the hard yards. From my under-graduation in Commerce, from the Nation’s Best Institute, to my first step into Corporate, from a Multinational Giant, to now my post-graduation, from the Nation’s Leading IIM, I wish to supersede my own achievements. Although achievements are far beyond just being names or buildings or a piece of paper, some organizations have made this place for themselves, that being associated to them innately puts you in the channel of value creation and distribution to the larger good.

And this is exactly where I find myself, in a position to create an impact!

I am sure most of us in our 20’s, finds ourselves here. To them I’d say, if a job, however menial, is completed with sincerity, honesty, and intentions in the right place, you can inspire the people around you and that is impact enough and I aspire to do the same. If each of us do our jobs right, we’d be a country doing our job right, we’d be a mankind, doing our job right!

It had all started with an 11 years old ambition, an advice, a shirt and some faith. That’s the thing about faith, once someone places their faith in you, it creates a ripple effect which only grows to unlock the undiscovered. A bond which was made years ago is going to stay with me forever.
