Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
When I was a school going child, my mother would wrap my sandwich in aluminium foil. The direct benefits being upkeeping the freshness of food, the best thing that came out of it was making a ball out of the wrapper. This enabled a group of us to play ‘catch-catch’ during recess. Thank you, Aditya Birla, for Freshwrapp, making my school lunch time memorable. When pantaloons store opened in Bhubaneswar in 2007, it became a one stop solution for all my fashion needs as it provided rich varieties and best o quality kids clothing. When I got my 1st phone after 12th class, I got an Idea sim to start with. It provided me with the best of data pack and the most affordable calling plans. I got my first touch phone in 2013 and it was an enriching feeling to have it at that time. But to my dismay, it fell from my hand and the screen broke. It was a costly affair to get it rectified and then I used a cover glass to protect my phone. Later I came to know, it was Hindalco aluminium that is used to make cover glasses for smartphones. Thank you, Aditya Birla for safeguarding my smartphone, as well as millions of smartphones. When I joined XIMB, the need for smart casuals, formals and business formals were met from Van Heusen, Peter England and Allen Solly. Thank you, Aditya Birla, for staying all around me, otherwise it would have been lot harder.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
During my childhood days computer, internet or even mobile phones were a prized possession. But the IT industry had a boom already. My elder cousin who worked for an IT firm gave me a general view of what computers are used for and how to program them. This made me inclined a bit towards computers. But the reality struck hard in my 11th when I was introduced to C++ language. I miserably failed to get hold of it. It gave me nightmares. It became so frightening that I had the ambition of conquering the essence of this subject. Many night outs, various reference books, solving and practicing numerous programming questions made me come at some ease with the subject. My constant efforts fetched me a satisfactory score of 91 out of 100 in my boards. But my comfort level in the language was not tested to its potential. When I joined my engineering, I had a chance to test my potential at techfests. I got a 1st prize in C-coding and secured first place in C-Debugging event as well. I felt my hard work has paid off. But I was yet to test my potential on a higher level. I got a chance to take part in C-Debugging event in IIT Bhubaneswar techfest and after a tough competition I lost the 1st position by a whisker. After achieving the 2nd place, I realized, I have overcome my challenges to achieve my ambition of conquering the essence of the subject.
