A. Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life
When I recall some of the events that had happened for the first time in my life, owning a home, owning a mobile phone, and owning a vehicle always standout. The memories of owning a home give me the feeling of financial and emotional security. The memories of owning the mobile for the first time remind me of how communication had become easier than ever and how it keeps me connected with people. Owning a vehicle reminds how my commutation became easier and convenient.
When I look back now, I am very sure that Aditya Birla Group would have been a part of most of the above mentioned events. Though I do not remember vividly, the major element of building a house is cement. The ideas I used to discuss were discussed over Idea with my friends. The vehicle that I used would have had Birla Carbon nano particles which had made my travel safer.
When I look back at my achievements now, making it to an IIM definitely stands out. After making it to IIMs, I have understood that grooming plays a very important role in making a lasting impression and thus in influencing people. Not so surprisingly, ABG helps millions to groom themselves better through brands like Vanheusen and Louis Philippe.
Furthermore, for most of us, one of the favourite childhood memories is train travel. Birla Copper Limited is major copper supplier for Indian Railways. Deliberately or unknowingly, like me, most of us use ABG’s services in our day to day life. Brand impact metrics would not be of a great help when we try to quantify the invaluable contribution of ABG to our lives.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life
I hail from Tekkali, a remote place near Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh. Despite being from a place where quality English medium education is not accessible, I could hone my communication skills through consistent efforts which helped me in making it to IIMs.
I faced certain challenges in my Journey from Engineering to Tech Mahindra and then to IIM Ranchi. One of the major challenges that I faced during the journey was to convince my parents for my master’s education in IIM.
After my graduation I had 2 options. One was M.Tech. in Andhra University and the other was Software Engineer in Tech Mahindra. My parents wanted me to go for M.Tech. in AU but I wanted to do my Post Graduation from colleges like IITs. Although I qualified GATE, due to various factors, I could not land up in my dream colleges. Since I wanted to be independent, I convinced my parents and joined TechM.
Job never made me to divert from my dreams of pursuing PG. After 3 to 4 months of my tenure at Tech Mahindra, I was transferred to Chennai from Hyderabad. Chennai was completely a new place to me, I faced difficulties in terms of language and food. Then slowly I started cooking in my room.
Despite of office work and chaotic schedule, I adjusted my time to study. And then there was a stage that came in my life, where I was inspired from my brother and fascinated towards pursuing MBA from IIM. Then I started my preparation for CAT. I felt it was difficult to manage both CAT preparation and office work. So I thought of quitting my job and giving an attempt. But I did not do so. I took guidance from my brother and adjusted my timings for both preparation and work. I cracked CAT 2018 and got selected for IIM Ranchi PGP-HRM 2019-21. This is the time where I faced the biggest challenge. That is convincing my parents for pursuing my master’s at this point of time. My father did not agree for the first few days, as it is time for me to get married. Later I along with my brother convinced him by all the possible ways. Finally now I am in IIM Ranchi, one of dream b-schools.
I worked in Tech Mahindra till 3 days prior to my joining in IIM Ranchi. Even though there are certain challenges, I always received a lot of moral support from my parents.
