Why ABG is big in my life:

It started with Group Chairman

When Aditya Birla Group’s name fall on my ears, the first thing that comes to my mind is it’s Group Chairman, my role model, Kumar Mangalam Birla. One thing that we share common among us is alma mater we have: ‘Chartered Accountant’. Being inspired by his success, I have started my journey for MBA and planning to have my business house in the future.

Just Wardrobe Things!

ABG’s products/services are at the very heart of every Indian actively or passively. ABG’s influence is in my life too. It all started when it was mandated to have a formal dress at the time of starting an internship as a part of CA course. My father, already a member of Peter England, took me to the nearest Peter England store to buy clothes. Since then Peter England has been very much part of my formal wardrobe. ABG has a variety of options so far as pricing is considered. For expensive and high range clothing, my wardrobe is full of Louis Phillipe and Allen Solly, whereas, for economical range, collection from Peter England and Pantaloons does good. The ABG Group serves upon the need of entire marketplace satisfying varied customers wants.

Networking with Idea!

When I was gifted a mobile phone for the first time, I was using Vodafone SIM provided by my parents. However, considering the pricing aspects of Vodafone, I switched directly to Idea network because every Indian remembers Abhishek Bachhan's wording ‘When you have idea internet, no one can make India fool’ (i.e. ‘Idea Internet lagoing, India ko no ullu banaoing’).

Building dreams!

When a contractor thinks of building a home, it’s obvious that ‘ChanceNaLoUltraTechLo’. It’s an engineer’s choice to build a home using UltraTech Cement and the same thing happened when my father designed building our mansion. Thus, ABG’s products and services are influencing society since time immemorial.

How I overcame challenges to achieve ambitions in my life:

My life journey has witnessed many challenges in academic and professional life. I would like to share one instance where I had to perform the task assigned to me by my company’s CEO. The task was that I was entrusted with handling the Credit Rating Process to achieve rating up-gradation in term loan ratings of our company. Task involved liaising with an external credit rating agency, preparing and submitting business and financial reports and discussion during inspections. Even after all the efforts, the rating agency remained adamant and did not upgrade the ratings. Not satisfied with ratings and rating rationale provided by the agency, I decided to ‘Appeal’ before the Rating Committee of the rating agency as per SEBI Guidelines. The management was apprehensive about moving with an appeal, but I took it upon my shoulders. I single-handedly drafted the whole appeal submission. The appeal process continued for a month with rigorous arguments and reasoning. In the end, we triumphed the appeal and were able to upgrade long term rating by 1 notch and short-term rating by 2 notches with the outlook being revised from ‘Negative’ to ‘Stable’. This rating exercise enlightened me that ‘where there is the will there will be the way’ and even if no one is with you, you should go for the challenge so as far as you have correct reasoning and confidence in yourself. Moreover, the calm and composed mindset during the rating process helped me to analyse the situation optimally. The stupendous feat achieved was lauded by my C.E.O. in public.
