Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
Sometimes a moment today is a life forever. Here in this journey that I will walk you through a quite relatable and warming episode of life. My father had just touched 60, with a unhoped decision of ending a phase of his career life. Yes! Retirement Day. We belong to a middle class family amongst 40 million others in India. Times were such that my father had to wear the same set of shirts for years together to provide us with a decent education and comfortable life. Sadly I never knew his longing for branded shirts , which he never could choose to buy at the first place. One day , we all were watching the advertisement of Van Heusen; when my father mutters to himself saying “I wish I can try one”. I saw a longing in his gleamy eyes and I already knew what his last day, office wear would be like. “Evolve Yourself” – Tagline of Van Heusen(Aditya Birla Group) was the perfect ode to the event so memorable in his life. Next thing I remember is, he hugging me and fumbling how spell bound he was since his young days to own such classic pieces of Premium clothing and how he finally has one.
A small story to share but a lot many to absorb from it. Purchases which were luxury items to us have become achievable today. Its beyond imagination to count moments and memories, created today which seemed impossible until yesterday.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
A road without directions is not a journey. Similarly a life without ambition is just surviving. The path towards your goal can never be easy given all the roadblocks that come our way. Yet utilizing the challenges as a stimuli is what has brought me here in the long run. I vividly remember the time when I was working as a software professional in my former organization wherein time management, deadline crunches, client meetings and day to day tasks was a part of life.
Day after day, the pressure was topping heads and responsibilities pitched in. One day, there was a meeting arranged with the Senior management who wanted to see how the project flowed in the lower strata. Few hours to it, and my manager expected me to know the status of the whole project with reasoning of why and how the blockers affected our progress. We a team of twenty, had to be brought down together, accumulate relevant information and analyse the severity of issues prevailing. That day, I somehow got on board every domain of colleagues together on one page; discovered new solutions to existing problems and also felt the need of how better we could make our way of approaching the problem statement. The day ended with us getting Pat on Back for our unified healthy working style.
I took a great learning that in the end achievements are a by product of what you perform. Challenges are both a bolster and a booster for growing and progressing in life. Team of twenty different people then, were a team of one now. Its important to recognise the roadblocks and overcome them with a positive approach which might be complex now but simpler later.
