Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life? Aditya Birla Group is an epitome of growth and development in the fastest developing economy across the globe. The Indian conglomerate has not only impacted the lives of 130 million Indians, but has left an indelible impact on the global canvas since its inception back in 1857. The way it impacted my miniscule life was through one of it’s businesses, Idea Cellular (now Vodafone Idea Ltd.), a leading mobile services provider.

My maternal grandmother dwells in Ambala, a small part of Haryana, which is too inconsequential to be mentioned in the political map of India. That, however, did not stop Idea to provide great connectivity and mobile services in the area. While my grandmother was using another mobile operator, she frequently faced issues with internet connectivity. The issue remained unresolved even after multiple complaints to the operator. The troubled and agonised 67 year old lady, who was unable to use WhatsApp and Facebook, came to me for wisdom. I am a proud Vodafone user.

I helped her with the process of porting her number to Idea Cellular. We visited one of the many Idea outlets present in Ambala, and were greeted with warm smiles. The entire process of porting the operator was made easy and smooth by the experienced professionals at the store. Now, my grandmother has happily sorted her presence on the social media and is even able to watch her favorite movies at Idea TV.

“An Idea can truly change your life”

How have I made an impact? Although, I have already mentioned about the minsculity of my life, that certainly does not mean that I have not made an impact to the greater system, in the past 20 years of my sententious existence. Challenges and hardships thrown by the creator of life are a way to make an individual stronger.

One of the greatest challenges that life had to offer me was the demise of my father, a few months prior to my class XII boards. It was devastating for me. The untimely death burst open the protective bubble and exposed my family and I to the adversities of life that were unknown to us. I emerged stronger and mature to face what life had to offer. I understood the ephemeral nature of life and how the universe has it’s way of course correction.

Nevertheless, after fulfilling every obligation that my father left mid way, I managed to get 96% and secure an admission in the college I aspired to be in, just because I knew that at the end what matters is merit. Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi was truly a respite in disguise.

This one cycle of pain and success did not stop me. In the fifth semester of my college, when all my peers were busy with their preparations of CAT, I was toiling my hours in the offices of EY India. Interning at Big4 is a dream come true for any student pursuing commerce, however, it took a toll of the most crucial two months of my college when I had to prepare for competitive entrance exams. The coming months were filled with rigor wherein I had to maintain my college GPA and study for the competitive exams.

Nevertheless, I converted Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), most of the new IIMs, and I topped my college with a 9.5 SGPA. Finally, I am here at Indian Institute of Management Ranchi, where dreams take the shape of reality, and the foundations of reality can be built stronger by coveted and sought after recruiters like Aditya Birla Group.
