It was the year 2005 and after a big fight with sleep, I woke up, got ready and was rushing down the stairs to my hallway for a quick breakfast in an attempt to not miss my school bus. But with myself losing the race against time, there was no time for even a quick breakfast. That is when my mother quickly packed my breakfast in the Freshwrapp aluminium foil and that is when my bond with Aditya Birla Group started.
Aditya Birla Group has then marked its presence in every stage of my life and it is quite difficult to rule out the contribution of Aditya Birla Group from the lives of most of us now and that kind of sums up the impact they have created on every industry.
Years ago, I remember flashes of memories related to our new home. Me and my father had to stay in our home construction site one night to make sure the sand, bricks, cement and all were under supervision as our security had not come because of personal reasons that day and just as we were about to sleep, It started raining and the cement sacks were about to get wet and so we started taking them inside and that’s when I saw the logo – “Ultra tech cement”. As our house neared completion of the construction, the same area where we had to keep the cement sacks had to be covered with aluminium sheet and we went ahead with Everlast aluminium roofing. Little did I know at that time that ultra tech cement and Everlast aluminium roofing were also a part of the Hindalco Industries which is under the prestigious Aditya Birla Group.
Years passed on and I became too obsessed with fashion and shopping. I still remember my fourth year placement days during my engineering at VIT University. It was a pleasant afternoon and I was with my friends in the cafeteria discussing the daily chores of the college. Just when we were about to leave, a notification flashed on my phone about the first company to be visiting the campus for its placement process and the Placement Committee cell of our college had already attached the dress code to be followed, and then came the discussion of the shopping involved. It was all chaos as everyone presented their opinions and there was not even a single doubt in my mind as to where to go. It was clear on my mind-Some moments in life are special and they got to be accompanied by the best things. I had Peter England and Allen Solly on my mind as they had the best collection when it came to rich formal dresses. Straight away, we went to the stores that evening and I got to say, the richness and the quality of those shirts I tried were unmatchable. After that, I got my trousers from People and little did I know that all these brands were a part of the Aditya Birla Group.
I can relate to many more such moments in my under graduation life where the occasion was perfectly matched with the right attire- be it my first ever interview where I put on my Peter England shirt or when I embraced the farewell evening with my Van Heusen suit, the richness and the confidence seeping through myself was just extraordinary.
Last but not least, my first-ever cell phone operator was Idea Cellular Limited. It was not intentional that I chose idea over other operators, but I started appreciating the goods of the mobile network and I can proudly say I am still using the same SIM card and my bonding with Idea has been like forever.
So little did I know that all these companies I mentioned were part of Aditya Birla Group until yesterday, but after I got notification about the ABGLP Woo Mee competition and when I started browsing on Aditya Birla Group in the four walls of my IIM Ranchi Khelgaon Hostel room, it was like connecting all the important life events as dots to one single name-Aditya Birla Group. That is the kind of impact that Aditya Birla Group has set in my life and my respect towards this prestigious group has only gone two-fold after I got to know about the Corporate Social Responsibility activities carried out by them. I can even quote a real-life example when I went to Kerala after the devastating floods and it was Birla sun life insurance company who set their stall first ahead of others in a remote village and that kind of sums up the efforts put by this group in bringing the best services to the people.
