Aditya Birla Group is really big in my life. It is a brand for generations. Always adding value to our life. It has over 50 years of history, the roots of the Aditya Birla Group date back to the 19th century. It was at Pilani that Seth Shiv Narayan Birla started trading in cotton, laying the foundation for the House of Birla. Aditya Birla group has today presence in14 industry sectors today be it cement, textiles, chemicals, agri-business, carbon black, mining, wind power, insulators, telecommunications, financial services, retail and trading solutions.
There are certain memories from childhood that bring smile on one’s face whenever we remember them. From childhood my mother always made sure that I never skip meals be it breakfast or lunch. So, during school and college, she always packed food for me in Freshwrapp aluminium foil by Hindalco. Needless to say, that food in this wrap always retained its freshness and taste. My father always preferred shopping from Peter England as it provides wide range of products within one store. For me and my mother, Pantaloons had always been ‘the’ spot for our fashion shopping. After joining premier management institute- IIM Ranchi, I bought my first business suit from Van Heusen- an Aditya Birla Group brand. I have done my graduation in B.E. in Civil Engineering. During that we had a lot of labs in which we performed different types of tests on cement and concrete. So, we performed test on Ultra Tech cement to understand properties of cement. Apart from generating value through brand, Aditya Birla Group carries out various CSR projects to build a better way of life for the weaker sections of society. Some of these are -It provides quality education to 46,500 children at 56 schools across India, and it has installed 50 Reverse Osmosis Plants (RO) which provide drinking water to villagers near its units. Recently Ultra Tech has also been planning to increase contribution of renewable energy to its total power consumption by five times by 2021.
Life is like a roller coaster ride, full of ups and downs. These ‘ups’ make us shout with happiness and these ‘downs’ encourage us to hold tight and never lose faith. I started preparing for AIEEE exam during class 12th on my own, but I wasn’t able to manage to it simultaneously along with school. I got nearly 1,60,000 rank in my first attempt of AIEEE exam. I had two options-either to get admission in any college or to try again and study hard to get admission in a good college. I knew I could do better and get a better rank in this exam. So, I decided to drop one year and prepare for AIEEE exam. My parents supported me in this decision of mine. They always motivated me. Stephen King rightly said- “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.” I prepared for 1 year and got 13,111rank. For me it was a big achievement, I studied and kept belief in myself throughout this time and was finally able to get a good rank and got admission into one of the most reputed engineering colleges- PEC University of Technology. I learnt that with hard work and persistence, one can achieve goals however big they may be. I also learnt sometimes big things take time, but one should never lose calm and should always try hard. Instead of running away from my failures, I stood undeterred and faced them with smile.
