While Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been taking strong mature strides in India’s corporate world for the last few years, the Group has been working on its empowerment projects for over two decades when CSR had not become the buzzword of the corporate identity. It spends over Rs 200 crore on its CSR projects. One of the biggest achievements of Hindalco’s Renukoot plant is getting over 200 widows remarried after a long and sustained effort of convincing the Panchayat.
During my engineering days, I preferred to buy clothes from world-famous brands like Peter England, Van Heusen, Louis Philippe, etc. thinking that all these were foreign brands. But one day I got to know from one of my friends that all these were Indian brands. At first, I didn’t trust my friend but then I checked on the internet and found that he is telling me the truth about all these world-famous brands were owned by an Indian Company which is none other Aditya Birla Group. At that moment, I feel very much proud about how an Indian company is transforming the lives of many people all over the world through Aditya Birla Retail and Fashion Limited.
