Aditya Birla Group (ABG), a huge Indian multinational conglomerate, with a 167-year legacy has been functioning with its mission of delivering superior values to its customer all over the world. Started as a small cotton trading business to the present ABG they have grown immensely and has built an empire which very few could dream about. It has made sure that its product is in almost all spheres of life from fashion to agriculture, construction to mining, e-commerce to retail outlets, telecommunications to captive power plants, you name it and they are there.
I have been consuming many of the products offered by ABG and the funny part is I was not aware about consuming the products belonged to ABG, most people aren’t aware too. Right from the cement used to build my house to the Amul Kool that is a regular occupant in my refrigerator bought from More retail outlet. Even the first SIM card (idea) that I bought was a product from ABG. Though I am not using it anymore the one I am using now (Vodafone) is now a part of Aditya Birla family.
On researching about them during this write-up, I was quite astonished by their product line-ups and their vast presence in multiple industries. To be honest, I never knew ABG is the parent group of fashion brands like Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England and thought these brands are part of separate entities.
ABG achieved their tagline “Taking India to the world” and started delivering to the world by making lives of billions around the world (not just India) better.
Overcoming Challenge:
Challenge is something that requires some one to go beyond their physical or mental limits. It varies depending on the person and can be as simple as moving out of your home and going for a hostel life. I am one among that person. Believe me it was never an easy task of planning to join hostel after you have spent almost 24 years of life with your parents. Yes, I am very lucky and fortunate of never being out of warmth of home and comfort of my parents during both my undergraduate and 3 years of my work life. I knew I had to take this hard decision of leaving my home when I started preparing for my Cat exams as I cannot restrict myself to Chennai (has been my home for 20+ years) based colleges. Also, most of the MBA colleges offered residential program and I cannot shy away from accomplishing my dream of MBA due to this fear. Even though this felt huge challenge for me at that time, I knew in the future I would be ashamed if I let this fear take over me and stop me from pursuing my dream. Even now writing this article from my hostel room, I miss my home. Even though it is early (less than a month of hostel life), I can proudly say that I never let my fear take away my dream of MBA.
I know that this might be petty for many, but many times such petty things might cost you your dream.
