Having seen my father and grandfather wear Peter England shirts for a better part of their adulthood, it was very obvious I'd prefer this brand when it came to me resorting to formals for my professional career. Peter England in my family has become much more than just an apparel brand. It has slowly and steadily become a brand that even my little brother prefers.
The major reason in my opinion that tries and justifies the impact they have in my family and possibly many more across the country and the world is the quality they have on offer and the wide range of products ranging from T-shirts, belts, shoes, and whatnot. The best part about the situation is that Peter England is just one brand under Aditya Birla Group's (ABG) umbrella.
Pan India ABG's products have been contributing in developing and progressing India and its people. Idea Cellular, Birla Sun Life Insurance Co, Ultratech Cement and much more have been instrumental in building India in what it is today. Idea Cellular, in particular, holds special respect as my mother’s brother has been working there for a very long time now. To just see him maintaining and appreciating his work-life balance is something that is straight out of a bucket list.
The work that ABG does and the impact it makes is in sync with the mission statement - "To deliver superior value to our customers, shareholders, employees, and society at large." To be able to touch so many lives with their diverse product range and at the same time keep on innovating for the future is something that should trickle down to each and every individual.
Me being a management student understand the importance of ABG’s mission statement. I believe that one should put his/her heart and soul in whatever he/she does in any capacity. Since I have worked for a couple of years in the industry before joining IMT Ghaziabad, I realize the importance of delivering superior value in work irrespective of all the factors pulling you down.
Motivation, insecurities, politics and missed deadlines have been instrumental in shaping the person I am today. There have been and always will be a lot of things to pull you down but in that split second, the choices we make - define the right and the wrong. It is the low points in life that give us the courage to rise again and face the world with even more zeal and vigor.
I genuinely believe that we as aspiring future leaders should continue striving for excellence and being impactful, for that is what’ll help us realize true potential. That is the thing I have quite literally realized from my corporate experience: Where there is a will, there will always be a way.
