As a student of a coveted B-school, on my first day of college, as I proudly walked in for my induction programme with my Allen Solly Blazer, it felt like a dream come true. My attire completed me. As I thought about it, I realized all my bib and tucker, whether a casual T-shirt or formal meeting wear, a birthday party dress or daily wear kurti, all belonged to one conglomerate - the Aditya Birla Group. Among, the many things that I learnt in my life, the lesson of financial responsibility was learnt by me when I invested in my first mutual fund of Aditya Birla Sun Life. Being one of India's largest private conglomerate, it has subsidiaries in many sectors ranging from the telecom industry to chemicals and fertilizers, cements, financial services, branded apparel and the list goes on.
In the days of environmental destruction, the Birla Carbon Group has some top sustainability awards in it's kitty, which is an inspiration to many youngsters like to protect Mother nature alongside doing business. From being the best employer to winning top quality awards for planning, it teaches business students to follow best business management practices to receive long-term benefits. I am among the many other millions of Indians who are very proud to have such an admirable conglomerate belong to the country.
2. At the core of the ABGLP programme are people who drive to make an impact, irrespective of what challenges they face. Tell us, how you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far.
My father is a Government employee working with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the Excise Department. Having a parent in a transferable job meant that I had to move out of my home every two years once. I had to change my school, my house, my friends, my neighborhood and basically my comfort zone. During the initial days, though I am generally very gregarious, it took me a lot of time to adjust to the new environment and make friends. And just as I thought that I was settling in, the process would repeat and I was off to a new place. As far as my childhood was concerned, most of my friends were not in contact after a short period and I could not accustom myself to change easily. But as I grew up, my fear factor about the change took a back seat as I understood change was the only constant. It was no longer difficult to accustom to a new environment.
Currently, easily adapting to change is one of my greatest strengths and makes me stand out in the crowd. It also gives me a lot of self confidence that I will overcome any other obstacle in the same manner. It was however possible due to the unconditional love of my parents who stood by me everyday I came home teary eyed.
