Ghanshyam Das Birla, born on 10th April 1894 at Pilani, Rajasthan and a Padma Vibhushan awardee for his impeccable business sense, is the founding father of Aditya Birla Group. Elected to Central Legislative Assembly in 1926, he was more an industrialist than a businessman. Today Aditya Birla Group values at $44.3 billion and is also making India proud by featuring in Fortune 500 list. Aditya Birla Group has grown from pieces to a group of successful companies and has made its presence felt among people.

It has touched every part of our life. Be it the beverages’ can that we use every day or the tyres of our car; even the aluminium foil that we use to wrap our food to keep it fresh, Aditya Birla group has been in the leading position everywhere. It manufactures cement, aluminium, agricultural products and a top quality fabric “Liva” which is used by much of the top fabric industries. Aditya Birla Group has its own fashion retail store which also stands as one of the largest in India. Apart from that Aditya Birla Group has made it big for itself in other sectors too. Ultratech Cement is the largest manufacturer of grey cement, ready-mix concrete and white cement; Vodafone Idea stands 2nd across globe and 1st in India in the telecom sector and Aditya Birla Capital is the 3rd largest NBFC in India. Aditya Birla Group has been woven into every part of our life. May it be that you want to build a house, buy groceries for dinner, need something fashionable to wear, have utensils to cook, need to talk to someone or need finance for your personal activity; Aditya Birla Group has everything to provide.
Aditya Birla Group has been inspiring me through the CSR activities it undertakes. It has provided medical facilities to villagers, Immunised children for polio, operates the school for children and even provides mid-day meals. Aditya Birla Group also provides skill training to young individuals thus making them self-efficient. Apart from that it also cares for its employees. Many initiatives have been taken to reduce accidents like “Inspire”; also safe drinking water, better sanitation and hygiene under its “WASH” initiative has built huge respect for Aditya Birla Group in me. It has become a dream company for every engineering graduate and also is the first choice for me. Aditya Birla Group has made it big in my life.

Challenges are something that everyone faces in their daily life. It can be as minor as scheduling one-self on a hectic day to as major as overcoming a great loss of loved ones. I have also faced many of them so far and successfully overcame it to reach where I am. Some of them also gave me an astonishing lesson of life and some molded me to become more resistant to give-up.
My father, being in government service, was open to being transferred to new places. Hence every time we were transferred to some new city, I had to change my school and also make new friends. This challenge in my life taught me not to be very attached to someone and be able to live happily even if my old friends were left behind. In my third year of engineering, I was given the responsibility to design a suspension for the ATV, we were building for the competition. I had designed it but due to a minor mistake in calculations, we had to face difficulties to install it properly. This created a huge challenge for me to redesign the system and manufacture it on time before the competition. I faced the situation diligently and analyzed the issues properly before acting further. Being persistent with what we do and focusing on our goal helps us gain the confidence that is required to overcome a challenge in our life. And I have applied this in my life when after my B. Tech I had to choose between job or MBA. I stayed motivated and prepared for the challenge persistently and dedicatedly to get into a good college.
I have overcome the challenges in my life by believing in me, constantly moving forward in life and working hard to achieve my goal.
