Coming from a rural area, I had no idea about Aditya Birla Group or any other company for that matter. I have seen Ultratech cement used for the construction of houses or any different structure. My father has been using Hutch cellular network aka Vodafone ever since he bought his first mobile. Even without having any clue, Aditya Birla has been a part of my life, people from my village and every other person in the country. After coming to Visakhapatnam for my studies, I happened to have the first-hand experience with brands like Van Heusen, Louis Phillippe, and other clothing stores. Fast Forward to 3 years, after completion of graduation, my parents wanted me to join a coaching center for UPSC. I had other plans in my mind. I wanted to start my own business and expand it like the Aditya Birla Group.
I prepared for CAT and cleared my Interview and joined IIM RANCHI in 2019. I consider M.B.A. as the final step in my education. I want to relate it with the “Polishing Process” in the art of a “Diamond Making.” They say that “It is in polishing that a goodly part of the price of the diamond is acquired; for the art of turning a rough diamond into a glittering brilliant is a long process requiring a superlative degree of skill.” I guess I am nothing but a hard rock with carbon atoms, tightly bound by covalent bonds. I need polishing to transform into a diamond. I believe that IIM RANCHI is the perfect avenue for me. With its exceptional faculty, learning methods, materials, and facilities in connection with finance and business world, a world of endless possibilities would be open for me.
To put it in other words, the way Aditya Birla Group had conglomerated over the years had inspired me to become an entrepreneur, If we have the passion for what we do, there are enough opportunities to succeed, and the sky is the limit.
I know people who have decided on what to achieve at an early age, that wasn’t the case with me. I had no idea what to do. The only course which I knew that existed after 10thclass was M.P.C. After clearing my 10th with a decent percentage, on my father’s advice, I joined commerce to become a C.A. The funny part is I thought that CA is a police officer back then. After joining Inter, I struggled a lot due to my poor English speaking skills. Despite knowing the answer, I never spoke due to poor communication skills. I couldn’t clear my CPT, which is an entrance exam for a Chartered Accountant.
Without any other option left, I joined BBA to get a government job after 3 years. I would consider these 3 years as the most crucial time in my life. I never moved on with the fact that I couldn’t clear an entrance exam, so I retook CPT, and I cleared it with distinction this time. This boosted my confidence, and I saw a spark in myself, and it’s incredible, I realized whatever I choose to do with it, I will be great. As I mentioned earlier that I wanted to be an entrepreneur, its high time for me to improve my communication skills. I started giving presentations in front of my class. I stammered a lot initially, but I couldn’t give up. I was a part of organizing my college managerial events. By the end of the 3rdyear, I won a state level finance competition. Although it might not seem like an achievement record for many who studied in the city, hailing from a rural background, it has been a journey with a lot of hurdles. I wanted to make sure that unlike me, students in rural schools should be aware of the opportunities that are available for them. For two months, I visited schools in my mandal and provided them some essential exposure on what to pursue after their high school and help them understand that English is a significant role player. It’s a leap of faith, that’s all it is. A leap of Faith.
