Part A: Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life:
The prestigious corporate behemoth , ABG has touched every aspect of our lives. It has an illustrious history of nearly 162 years and is presently spread across 34 countries. Since its foundation in 1857 by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla, Aditya Birla Group has grown to such an extent that it is spanning diverse areas ranging from staple fiber, metals, cement, filament yarn chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, carbon black, telecom, BPO and financial and IT services. My first encounter with Aditya Birla as the brand it is happened when I first bought apparel from Pantaloons about 10 years back. From then on, the association has continued fondly and it keeps on bringing feelings of nostalgia about me growing up.
During the Admission process of applying to B-schools, Aditya Birla proved indispensable in helping me choose from an assortment of formal wear apparel designed for women which were Van Heusen and Allen Solly. Both brands are designed to cater to different customer segments, yet both are so unique in their taste and style. Vodafone India, the telecom service provider has further added more value towards ABG’s diversification and has given us Indians another reason to be proud of. Another product is Ultratech cement, which has ensured that the wheel of growth and infrastructure development keep on revolving unhindered and it has been used in constructing the iconic Bandra Worli Sea link in Mumbai. From carrying food in the aluminum foil during school days to shopping in Pantaloons, ABG has impacted our lives in positive ways and created unbridled, cherished memories that are worthy of reminiscence.
Part B : How I made an Impact For the Better :
I spent my early childhood years in a typical joint family with treasured memories of playing with my cousins. After a few years, I moved out from my ancestral home with my parents to the glimmer and glitter of New Delhi. The situation was at first amplifying for me and it took me some time to adjust to a whole new setting. However, just when I had made some memorable bonds with friends, I had to move out from New Delhi owing to my father's transferable job. I wasn't very pleased with the idea of transitioning places and grew irritable. But now when I glance back at my past experiences, I can intently claim that those experiences helped me not to get attached to situations and approach uncertainties with composure.
Thereafter, I decided to pursue engineering as I have a technical aptitude and love figuring out how stuff works. During my final year of engineering, I was in tenterhooks regarding what I really wanted to achieve in life. I had always been in the forefront of leading my team in academic and extra-curricular initiatives and gradually I realized that this is an inherent trait and decided to sit for CAT. Given the rapidly ticking time, I strategised my preparation focusing on my strengths and taking cues on what booby traps to avoid, which is so prevalent in CAT.
Fortunately, my efforts bore fruit and I scored decent percentile to receive calls from top B-schools. I made sure to take the route of smart work and prioritization, to simultaneously prepare for my interviews as well as my graduation. In the end, this process was frustrating at times and I honestly wanted to let go. However, there was a beacon of hope that motivated me to give it my all and this is how I made a positive impact on my life and turned on a whole new world of seamless opportunities.
