2. How I overcame difficulties to achieve my dreams?
I have always been an active learner throughout my life and this urge to learn has taken me through a long journey of struggle and achievements. I belong to a conservative Marwari family from Rajasthan. When education is the basic right to all, it came as a luxury to me. I wanted to learn, study, work and contribute to the family as well as society. I wanted to be different from my cousins and I also proved to be different. Apart from being a first-generation learner, I am also the only girl from the family to work, while staying away from the family in a different city. This became possible only because of my parents and our never giving up attitude.
My parents have always been my support system and the most important pillars of my life. It was a long journey for me as well as my parents, to come out of barriers of superstitions and gender discrimination. This struggle helped me in achieving my targets and setting new goals for the future. I wanted to study Aeronautical Engineering, which is usually not preferable for girls and even more for me. But my score in Higher Secondary made my parents agree to my decision.
In college, I was the topper of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering of my undergrad college. I also got the Best Student Award for my Outstanding Academic Performance. I was also the overall events coordinator for a National level Technical Fest in my college and that was the first time I took up an event management responsibility. I also took up the N5 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and cleared it.
My achievements at college helped me convince my family to let me work and 4 years later my attitude towards work helped me to grab my Post Graduate Programme. Finally, the dots connected and I am doing my MBA at IIM Trichy. Though I take pride in the journey I have been through, I also believe that great things can be achieved if one stays humble.
