A childhood dream lived in me on the day of my graduation and I wondered-'How to make it big?’
Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
One way was to touch upon people's lives but the energy could not find a channel. Confused and impatient, thankfully I was not destitute. Looking at the condition of my peers, educated but unemployed, made me worry more about my creative energies. Dilemma took over my positivity. One day while passing through most popular areas of Delhi, I found a copy of ‘India Unbound: from Independence to Global Information Age’ by Gurucharan Das. Even more than title, the book left a mark on me. They were critical of government policies but always appreciative of sentiments that laid behind. The political economic condition of country was reflected and the role of Aditya Birla Group (ABG) in nation building gave me a sense of pride and ray of inspiration, for the first time, through a nation's eye.
The numerous people who remained behind the iron curtain had taken it to their conscious to deliver and make the lives easier in an India where there was pervasive poverty and high rates of unemployment. The goal to reach a 5 trillion economy cannot be accomplished without significant contributions by all citizens, in all ranks and files. Agriculture and IT turn out to be major areas in the global economy that can lead India to utilize its capability in full manner. Between the viscous and virtuous cycles of economy, ABG has turned 167 years old and continues to significantly provide employment as well as the kind of working environment and conditions, every free individual in new India would ask for. Their efforts in Indian economy proved that there was no altruism possible without production.
How have you made an impact?
For the pursuit of happiness and to see myself as important citizen, I had to put my energy in right path and ABG was one such body that guided numerous individuals’ initiatives and energy to increase the productivity of nation to impeccable levels. Interestingly, it all had started with an individual.
However, the way wasn't too easy to discover and I again faced a challenge when I had to take a drop year due to health issues but the stories of ABG made me realize that what one owns in his body and mind. And then I decided to control my body and mind just like ABG controlled economy and employment, globally and domestically. Aditya Birla had become India's first global industrialist.
The conglomerate was amongst the first ones to venture globally and presently, it extends to most parts of Asia. From agribusiness to e-commerce, mining to wind power, telecommunication to financial services cement to consultancy and from ferrous metals to petrochemicals, ABG has made its mark in every single person's life. When I moved to IIM Ranchi, being a north Indian, it became quite difficult to adapt to new environment. When the homesickness lingered on, the present capabilities suffered and I started to lack behind several deadlines.
The idea that ‘big makes distances disappear' came out alive through network and connectivity I found in Vodafone-Idea networks and a sense of confidence rose in me when I wore apparels that my mother would send me as gifts -mostly from Vanhuesen, Peter England, Pantaloons. The emotions had connected with ABG through a two-step process. Channelizing an essence of delivering the best to people and nation building, ABG guided a confused youngster to a right path who was on the verge of feeling insignificant.
