Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your Life?
Who wouldn't remember the dialogues like, “what an Idea, Sirji" or "walk and talk" . The Aditya Birla Group, a premium conglomerate, and a fortune 500 company have affected our lives in some way or the other; I have one such story to share.
It was the year 2017, as a third-year student, I was trying hard to get an Internship, at a prominent automobile company. Then, happened something which led to two crucial months of my graduation. I got the mail for appearing in an exam for Internship from Sml Isuzu, for an internship at Ropar, Punjab. So, I went there appeared in the exam and luckily, got myself an Internship.
I was all excited and happy, readily packing my stuff for the next few months; anyhow I came to Ropar finally. It was a small town, and it had this touch of a rural market. A friend, helped me find a room to stay and then came the hard part, I needed home utilities and the area had no shops, and even if they had few, here I was a "Bihari" guy, who knows nothing about the local dialect, and it was tough for me to get the specific things I needed.
Then, I saw this store called "MORE" , an Aditya Birla Group Retail chain, I couldn't have felt any better, a store where I can find and pick up all the stuff, without even asking for it.
More, became the friend that I lacked in a new town. If I needed anything from fruits, snacks to cosmetics, I knew where to go. There I was, entering the store every day to get snacks for the evening as if the store was home. It's the small little things that bring happiness to a common man's everyday life, more, was that happiness to me.
When I heard a few months back, Aditya Birla Group sold the merchandise, to Samara and Amazon, I wasn't sad but worried, will the store at Ropar still be there.
Though it may be having fewer sales as compared to any prominent cities, it surely was a saviour to students like me and many more to come from distinct parts of the country,
"more" would always remain special to me.
How have you made an Impact?
Life is a wave with crest and trough, isn't it? It's how we react and what we do in those small moments defines us.
One such moment would be the last few months of graduation. It was the last semester, and the college was all geared up to invite companies for recruitment. We young, made to engineers were all excited to enter the corporate world, but little did we know that the cutthroat competition to bag a job, would turn friends into strangers.
The real tension grew among the batch when few companies were already done with their process and our college not being a prominent one; only a few more opportunities would come. With building pressure, students started opting for companies which didn't give much information during the process; I landed in one such company. After reaching the company, we came to know that the company has the policy of 5 years of bond, with already plans for mba, I couldn't afford 5 years. So, here I was with a loan on my head, left my job in the very first month. With a series of interviews, I finally got myself a job, not a prominent one, though.
But, now starts the part, where I needed to prepare for Cat along with the job. Since I couldn't afford the expensive regular classes for Cat, I did what everybody does, took a test series. What nobody tells about a test series is that it doesn't have all the concepts of the chapter. So, here I was streaming endless videos, talking to friends, looking for every possible way to learn.
A wonderful thing happened in this process, I made a habit of finding answers to problems, whether be it studies or life as a whole and the zeal to succeed landed me to one of the best b-schools of India, IIM-Ranchi. When I look back now, I realize there are always obstacles to the road to success; it's our perseverance that matters.
