How I have been able to overcome challenging situations in my life? (IIM Ranchi)
This story’s setting is in the village turned- suburb turned -modern town called Whitefield, on the outskirts of Bangalore. A girl coming from a small town in Kerala lands up in one of India’s leading consultancy firms and sets ablaze the start of a beautiful journey she will cherish for the rest of her life.
At this point, it shouldn’t be a surprise to learn that the protagonist is myself!
Being right out of college, it seemed quite hectic to me – the induction process that I had to undergo, the rigorous sessions, quizzes, test. Most of all, I missed my home. I felt like being in a strange land with monotonous life except for the new pieces of riddles that I solved every day at the workplace. Very soon a bunch of friends I made there helped me to identify with the new place and I became one of the “Bengalurians”.
Right after induction, I was put in a great team which was to provide solutions for the problems faced by one of the Fortune 500 companies of the world. The sense of responsibility bestowed upon me was initially overwhelming, but soon started to enjoy being in a group of young enthusiasts who brainstormed day in and day out delivering experience and value to the clients far way in US.
The solution we offered encompassed vastness of data analytics and intricacies of web application development. This was going to be the key for stakeholders at the client side to take informed decisions. The project was divided into two phases and I had joined the team at the start of the second phase. Now, it is worth mentioning that not only did we deliver the product at the right time in-spite of the time crunch, but we also staged an experience that won us the client’s appreciation.
And right when we all thought that the project was well received and that we have been able to pull it off, an email triggered by the client’s immediate boss shook the very foundations of our relationship with the client. It was an escalation that was due to certain technical issues that they had faced during the live screening of the project. It was the issue of performance as we were fetching large amounts of data and this affected the loading time of the application. The top leadership at our organization and our team pounced upon the issue at once. But we were very quick to address the clients and pacify them. We worked round the clock and submitted the detailed analysis of what went wrong and what were the steps to correct them and the timeline for the same. The team doubled up the efforts and toiled day and night to make things right with the clients. We had humungous tasks ahead of us, saving the engagement we had with the company as well as pitching for the third phase of the project. These were the days we missed watching the sun for days and spent sleepless nights in the office. But we delivered under the intense pressure we were facing, we stayed for each other through thick and thin and each one of us showcased exemplary sportsmanship. At the end of the project, we decided to go an extra mile. One of my colleagues and I was put in charge to revamp the earlier phase of the project. We would not charge the client for this work. We took it as our own responsibility and decided to give them the best we could. We both were on our own. We would report to the manager twice every-week with the progress made and milestones we had decided for ourselves. Since it was a tech heavy project, we had to take help from experts across our organization and we put everything we could into this phase of the project. In two months, we had delivered the revamped phase one as well as phase two. We had senior leadership at our office in India to back us up while we pitched it to the clients. Our efforts bore fruits and we were felicitated for all the hard work we put into it. We won the third phase.
That day I realized that no matter what you are going through, staying focused on the end goal is the key to success. Also, assuring yourselves that the period of darkness shall too pass is important. And that’s how I started believing that the hardest challenges teach you the greatest lessons of life.

I am a highly enthusiastic person and always ready for new challenges. For me, agility is the prime concern. Having a technical background in the field of mechanical engineering from NIT Agartala, I worked for Tata Motors for 46 months. There I was involved in the area of Operation and planning and this was the remarkable experience for me. Currently, I am pursuing MBA in HR from IIM Ranchi. My area of interest is not limited actually it's a little bit wider I have an interest in consulting, Analytics, Performance management, Industrial relation and more on the list. Traveling is the thing which is inseparable to me. This is my super hobby. Interacting with the new person and making networking, I do like.so, in short, I am an Icebreaker.
