Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
To achieve greatness, one needs to have an ambition and the enthusiasm to achieve it. The very fact that, an ambition, which when accompanied with determination and hard work, can make anyone overcome all odds in the path to glory. And, paving our own path to glory fondly reminds me of a brand, which is globally renowned as – the Aditya Birla Group.
If you try to ponder for a while and find out a sector where they do not have their footprints, it will be an absolutely tedious task. With a vision to focus on each and every business that they have undertaken and the desire to deliver quality values to their stakeholders, this group has been instrumental in carving its way to be one of the premier conglomerates in India, ever since its inception in 1857 by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla.
With engagements in 14 sectors across the world, it has certainly been one of the household names not only in India but abroad as well. It is, in fact, the third largest private sector conglomerate in India. The chairman of ABG, Sri Kumar Mangalam Birla, opines that all the members of the ABG know what they are in look out for, in all sectors, they have their footprints in and they are in it to make it big, slowly yet steadily. He believes perseverance is the key to their success.
It is hard to deny the fact that every Indian is, in some way or the other, being served by the services that ABG offers. My personal attachment with the Aditya Birla group is very strong and pleasing. It indeed has made my life pretty streamlined and full of ease. There are several aspects of my daily life where it plays a significant role. I prefer wearing comfortable yet stylish clothes and ABG’s ventures like Pantaloons, Allen Solly, Louis Phillippe, etc, serve my purpose. In fact, when I faced my first interview for a job in the campus during engineering days, my dad got me a Grasim (flagship of ABG) suit stitched and it was classy. ABG’s Hindalco has revolutionized the Aluminium and Copper industry and has brought in several products into our lives such as Freshwrapp, without which life would not have been as easy as it is.
The attachment is not only restricted to me. It has a strong connection with my family as well. Last year, my father opted for Ultratech cement for the construction of our house, because of the trust and belief on ABG. My parents have insurances and have invested in stocks with Aditya Birla Capital as our partners, for securing our future. But for my younger sister, all the other members of my family are Vodafone users. We are also, the regular customers of the products that ABG manufactures for the welfare of society at large.
The former First Lady of the USA, Eleanor Roosevelt, had once quoted, “Great men discuss ideas, average minds discuss events and small minds discuss people.” It won’t be wrong to relate this statement to the leaders of the ABG group who primarily target to deliver quality values to customers with their unique thought process and make lives of people, happier and easier than before.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
With countless memories, a million thoughts and plenty of adulation, I walked out of the main gate on the last day of my office, with a smile on my face and a thought in my mind that I was about to start a new journey in my life. It was about the life that I was going to live at XIMB. And here I am at XIMB as a budding manager.
Now when I look back into the pages of my history, the journey till here seems satisfying and pleasing. But things haven’t been easy for me. All this while, there was just one thing that has always been a point of botheration for me – my drastically growing weight. When I was in Class 8, I weighed 64 kg and by the time I started my +2, I weighed more than 100 kg.
Though my weight kept on increasing, I never felt short of energy and enthusiasm in any of my daily activities. The only change that I found in myself was being over-conscious in everything I did, considering my appearance. To be precise, I was always getting skeptical about the way I appeared and at times, avoided going out to parties and gatherings, so that I do not become a subject of people's ridicule. It did not take me long to realize that I was soon going to be in some sort of depression.
It was sports that changed my life then. It was the only thing that helped me since I could not let my love and interest in sports decline ever. I played badminton, cricket, and volleyball. In spite of having that weight, I had won many awards in sports. The connection with sports was significant for me as it made me believe that we only lose only when we do not compete. My family had always supported me in everything I do.
During that period, I came across a sports article in which it was mentioned that England Speedster, Andrew Flintoff weighed around 115 kg when he represented his country at the international level. This motivated me to a great extent. That very moment, I decided to leave all negative thoughts on my appearance behind and put my step forward to do anything and everything that I want to, no matter what. Since then, I have always been associated with sports and today, though I weigh around 135 kg, there is no sport which I can’t play. I have realized that there will be plenty of comments, advises and criticism coming my way in every stage of life. I just need to be humble, accept only the positive criticism, let go off the things which I am not supposed to be bothered about and just believe in my abilities.
