- Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
April 27, 2019, as the Guwahati city woke up to an indolent Saturday morning, their cherished cup of tea was spilled by a 4.8 magnitude earthquake. With 7 counts of earthquakes already in this year, me, my family and the whole Guwahati City, living under tons of concrete in an earthquake-prone zone feels safe and secure because the cement binding their homes is the Ultratech Cement. With the increasing complexity and demand of new-age construction in Guwahati, Ultratech Building Products through their cutting age technology provides a list of scientifically engineered products like the AAC which economical, light weight blocks which ideal for high rise buildings.
The Aditya Birla Group has dressed the ultra-modern generation of the country with their fashionable collection from brands like Louis Phillippe, Allen Solly, and Peter England. The Pantaloons mall in Guwahati has been a one-stop shop fashion store for me and my family. Two years ago, when I stepped out of my classroom to give my first job interview, the suits and the formal wear of Vanheusen made me acclimatize to the corporate world with confidence.
With a can of coke in my hand, as I enjoyed each moment of the ICC WorldCup, I never realized the importance of the can which contained the ‘happiness’. The aluminium comes from Hindalco, which is used in the manufacturing of the day to day utensils, cans, vehicles, electrical equipment, etc. So, this upcoming weekend when the 400 million workforce of India enjoy a can of chilled beer, you know whom to thanks.
The Aditya Birla group operates in 5000 villages, treated over a million patients, immunized 70 million children against polio, operates 56 schools and provides midday meals to 63000 children in India. Despite being such a huge business community, they haven’t forgotten their Corporate Social responsibilities. Their motto says:
“To actively contribute to the social and economic development of the communities in which we operate. In doing so, build a better, sustainable way of life for the weaker sections of society and raise the country’s human development index”
They have played a huge role in the lives of 1.34 billion people of our country including me. Thank You Aditya Birla Group.
- How I overcame challenges in my life?
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong”- Mahatma Gandhi
My initial childhood days saw a lot of challenges, some of which even haunts me today when I stand before the world with my head held high, my mind forcing my arms to clutch when I open them to grab the opportunities that lie ahead of me. As a child “I was weak”, a child with below-average height who couldn’t run like the others chasing the ball, because his limbs were not strong enough and his lungs couldn’t pump enough oxygen.
My best friend, my mother promised me that I will have a lot of friends when I get admitted to a school. Friends, a strong relationship of trust between individuals who were once strangers. Although I got many friends over the course of my high school, I also made many enemies, people whom I have beaten to a pulp in my endless mental fighting simulations. These people who used to bully me in the school bus, classroom, and the school playground, thought that it was fun. But a weak cannot fight, because a weak cannot win. All he can do is imagine what would he have done if his genetic DNA got hold of the venom of the radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker. Though superheroes aren’t real, still at that time they gave enough hopes to a child who dreamt that one day he will break the shell which has confined his spirit in the shackles of failure.
“Never be weak, you must be strong: You have infinite strength within you”- Swami Vivekananda.
These words were written on the walls of the Ramakrishna Mission in Belur Math when I visited there in my 9th standard. As these words resonated in my mind, I lost all my feelings of anger towards those who once bullied me. I realized the only person who was stopping me to face towards the horizon was me myself. My first step towards improving myself began when I entered through the doors of the Gold Gym. My diet changed and slowly with that, the adrenaline of confidence started to charge within my veins. With each rep, the pain increased, and with the pain, I could feel the weakness leaving my body.
Two years later when I examined myself in the mirror, I looked into the eyes of the reflection. His eyes had no fear, his smiling face indicated that he is now ready to face the world. I realized that strength never comes from winning. Our struggles develop our strengths. When we go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.
Three years ago, our school planned a reunion for the batch. We all were so happy to meet each other after nearly six years. Everyone was sharing their part of the story. From the crowd a known face came towards me and in a familiar voice said, “I am sorry for what I did to you” and as I replied with “Koi baat nahi yaar” the words of Mahatma Gandhi resonated within my mind.
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong”
