Why Aditya Birla Group Is Big In Your Life?

Aditya Birla Group (ABG) instils a sense of responsibility in me, of being a model citizen of India. I have come across various initiatives taken up by the Indian Multinational Conglomerate in diversified walks of life and I can safely conclude that ABG has never left a single stone unturned in touching the lives of people in both the rural and the urban sector of India. Be it providing midday meals to kids in Keonjhar district of Odisha across 268 schools or empowering 45,000 women with monthly earnings of more than ₹3,000 through 4,500 self-help groups, ABG stands tall in delivering light of hope for many individuals and India as a whole. ABG has had a simple yet extraordinary influence over my life. I am a resident of Bhubaneswar, Odisha which was not a very shopper’s friendly city until Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd decided to pitch in Pantaloons to the market in the year 2007. With the advent of Pantaloons in Bhubaneswar, I remember being elated to witness such a huge and fancy shopping mall in the heart of the city, which was not something that we, at Bhubaneswar, were expecting to witness. People of Bhubaneswar stood up to the expectations of ABG. In a conversation with Business Standard on January 29,2013, the then CEO of Pantaloons, Mr Sanjeev Agarwal said, “Our operations in Bhubaneswar has been really exciting. We are truly overwhelmed by the response that we have received from our customers in the city and we would like to celebrate our success with them. We will continue to bring the best and the most fashionable apparel and accessories to our customers”. As Pantaloons stepped into the market of branded clothing and fashion apparel in Bhubaneswar, many other brands also pitched in and now, after more than 10 years, we have shopping malls at any other corner of the city. Fitting into a perfect attire for a demanding occasion is no longer arduous at Bhubaneswar.

How You Overcame Challenges To Achieve your Ambitions In Life So Far?

I belong to Bhubaneswar, Odisha and come from a middle-class family. In my life so far, I have always viewed a challenge as an opportunity to stand out from the crowd or as an opportunity to commit mistakes and learn from them. After all, Life is what you make of it. Fortunately, I have had the ability to set goals and working towards achieving those goals since my early school days. I am an ambitious guy. Though I do not believe in setting major ambitions, setting micro ambitions has been my forte since so long. One of the ambitions that I set during my 12th grade included scoring excellent marks because that is what would have helped me kick start my career in a very good direction and would have made my parents proud. I had my board exams in the month of March 2016, and I started preparing for it diligently from the month of October 2015. As I began my preparation with full energy and enthusiasm, I never knew that something harsh was awaiting me. On 8th November 2015, my grandmother who was in her early 80s left us. It was low for me that hit me in the most unexpected manner. I was in sorrow but at the back of my mind, I still had my ambition to pursue. Around two weeks passed, and I managed to pull myself off the sorrow and thought of resuming my preparation. I took tuitions with 119 other students belonging to the same academic background. My teacher, not empathizing with me, told me that I was giving up easily and that I cannot do well within the due time available to me. I took his challenge as an opportunity to prove my mettle. I resumed my preparation with full force and this time much more determined than I was before. There were lots and lots of sleepless nights that followed and deep inside I believed that this is what I want now, so let’s just do this. Exams got over and results were out. It turned out that I topped the batch of 120 students in my tutorial and stood at the 19th rank all over Odisha. What I took away from this part of my life is that every obstacle in our life shapes us for a better future. All we need to have is a brave heart and a sound mind to crack it.
