Founded in 1857 by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla, Aditya Birla Group (ABG) has gone up to become the third largest Indian Private sector conglomerate and has touched almost every Indian's life in one way or the other. Same is the case with me.
Having used a Vodafone SIM (now Idea-Vodafone) since childhood to working on Vodafone's telecommunications network as an Ericsson engineer, this vertical of ABG has had a huge impact on both my personal and professional lives. Nearly all my family members are on the network as well. Their competitive pricing and attractive data plans are a treat for us all. Idea-Vodafone is now the largest Indian telecom operator with nearly 394.8 million subscribers.
Pantaloons is my one stop shop for all my casual apparel needs, whereas brands like Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen and Peter England are my all time favorites in formal wear. Post ABG acquiring American fast fashion retailer Forever 21, all the ladies of my household (sisters and cousins alike) get their fashion needs met here. ABG has literally defined fashion for the 21st century.
Corporate social responsibility is also taken very seriously at ABG. They believe in actively contributing to the social and economic development of the communities, thereby uplifting the weaker sections of society and creating a sustainable environment for all. Setting up of more than 1000 bio gas plants, mid-day meals, distribution of solar lamps, polio vaccination of over 90 million people and setting up of 4500 women empowerment groups are a few of their CSR initiatives.
ABG continues to grow and innovate and will keep on being a part of all 1.3 billion Indians.
