A. Why is ABG big in my life?

In a very early age, I first saw you. You were there, providing strength to my house and caring for me & my family. You are not only just cement; you are part of the family, but you are also Ultratech cement- the most favorable and trustable cement brand of India. Later I moved to college, and I was preparing myself for the job interviews, and you came up to help with a whole range of Peter England apparels. You taught me the sense of dressing on every occasion. I needed gentleman attire when I was going for the first date, and Vanheusen stretched its hand. Every time, be it, festivals, marriage, or puja, there is only one destination, i.e., Pantaloons. When I started earning, then what could be the best to take care of financial planning than Aditya Birla capital management. You are also bridging the gap among relatives & friends by providing cellular service as Vodafone-Idea ltd, which itself is second largest globally.

I find myself surrounded by ABG products and services, and whatever I write, will be less. After witnessing the significant presence of ABG, I expanded my research activities in another domain, and what I found is quite overwhelming. ABG is currently operating in 14 industrial sectors having more than 35 companies and various brands in its umbrella. Aditya Birla Group is considered as an enormous corporation from the employee’s perspective. It has more than 1.2 Lac employees from 42 nationalities and working in 34 countries. This is the big thing that ABG talk about. It’s the capability of ABG that it has maintained such a vast diversity and aligned them towards a common goal.

Aditya Birla Group not only talks about social-economic development & sustainable growth of society but also emphasizes on human development index. This is big in the sector of corporate social responsibility. I belong to a rural area, and I am a witness of the initiative taken by ABG. It is the reason for the big smile for the 7.5 million people in 5000 villages. They are getting constant support in the field of the medical facility, education, skill development, and employment. ABG has been a continuous supporter of sustainable development as well. It has promoted various initiatives, e.g., Wash, safety leadership training, Birla cellulose to strengthen the framework so that it could provide seamless service to people. This also depicts that ABG is a way ahead in the time.

B. How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?

I hail from a village named Sisai. It is a small village in Jharkhand state. I come from a very humble family. The journey from this small village to IIM Ranchi has been like a roller coaster ride for me. No one has ever thought that I would do something big like this, not even me. My grandfather and father have always been concerned about my education. But due to lack of economic resource, they couldn’t send me to town for schooling. In my village, there were only one or two government schools and vacant places of teachers in those schools. Till class two I have studied there, and I was utterly unknown to alphabets. Then a new school opened, this was a little bit decent as all subject’s teacher were there and I got admission in this school. In my childhood, I used to hear, “You are from the village, how far you will go, just have the basic study and help to run your family shop.” This was quite demotivating. At that time, I used to watch television quite a lot, and there I saw a few inspirational programs which provided me thrust to do something better, to gain my name. I secured decent marks in class 10 and got chance for admission in St. Xavier’s college Ranchi. Now I could say that I was on the right path, but still, there was a long way to go.

I was studying in the state board; this was itself a challenge. In 2010, class 12 result came for Jharkhand board. Only 30 % student in science stream passed and 5 % secured 1st division, and I was among that 5 %. This motivated me a lot because, at the same time, I was thinking of engineering entrance. In 2011 I cracked the AIEEE (All India engineering entrance exam) and got enrolled in NIT Agartala. I was among the top 3 and got placed in one of the best automobile company. Though I was at mid-level in the company, life was pretty rosy. At that time, one of my friends joined the Aditya Birla group after completing MBA. He used to say to me, “You are in well, come and join ABG if you want to sail.” I made up my mind and started preparing for CAT. The rest is history, and now I am the part of prestigious IIM Ranchi league. I am on the way towards my next goal…i.e., ABG.
