Part A

Coming from a Middle class family from a city like Mumbai and when i look back to my childhood days i can say, at that point of time i was not in any position to relate Aditya Birla Group any better than all time favorite "MORE". Yes because this was the first change that we as a family transitioned from Local Grocery Store to a Supermarket which not sold Goods of different brands and varieties but also bags full of experiences when we moved out of the store. More was the first store that provided that experience and the reason i miss MORE more is because it was my mother's choice , any no one can chose better than Mothers. So More was the One Stop store everything from Groceries , Vegetables , Stationery, other household products and appliances. Back then in 2007/2008 it was very difficult to find a store which provided such experiences. The deep product line and the spacious stores which enabled customers to spend a good quality time to shop was truly an amazing. Customer friendly staffs made the shopping experiences. As the time passed our relationship with MORE increased and we were very happy to have a store MORE this near us.

Also when it comes to city like Mumbai , at times i feel the time really run faster. Considering the 2-3 years of bonding which my family had with More came to an end, with no clue as such. I still don't get that why the store which was doing well (considering the Long Q's and happy employees , customers ) was shut. We didn't have any other option and was looking for MORE in some places which was far too but could hardly found one. I don't know the exact count but currently there are only few MORE stores in Mumbai. With time we have Big Baazar, Dmart, Hyper city and many other supermarkets of such types but whenever i enter any store i still recollect the memories and experience which MORE gave us. I even have conversation with my mother after returning from any store as mentioned above regarding how different the experiences with MORE was. Maybe it was Love in first experience or it can also be First love never dies. Whatever it is We STILL MISS YOU MORE. We want more of MORE in city like Mumbai.

Part B

City of Dreams - Mumbai. When can one dream ? If one has good sound sleep ? No , it is only when at the end of the day one is happy. I encountered a group of 6-7 men who shifted to Mumbai for earning their living. Average age would be around 28 years , number of dependents in family in Nepal was around 6-7 persons which included parents , spouse and 3-4 kid per person. Majority of them were working as a security guards in the apartments in my vicinity. Seemed to happy but i was curious to know whether they really were.

I had a discussion about their past lives and the present thing which was going around in their family. But when i got to know about the real income which they used to get after working for 24 hours i.e.  in 2 shifts of hours ignoring the fact that they used to sleep at night with gates closed was just 10000 per month. Now imagining how expensive it is to survive in city like Mumbai and also send majority of the portion back to their family in Nepal. That night i had a thought about how can someone go about in the situation like this. This went for few days and finally i had some plans which i thought could help them for their betterment. It goes as follows , Most of the time they were busy sitting be it early morning or late evening. Once the gates were closed there was nothing much they could do and they just used to spend their time. We had around 40 cars in our building and similar number of cars in the building in vicinity. I suggested them if they could take the permission from the Society and the cars / bikes owners for washing their cars on daily basis which would add to their incomes. A car wash for a month would get them around 600 and a bike as wash could fetch them around 200 per month. Following to this they agreed to upon and finally started doing the same which fetched them around 25000 more per month and that too by occupying the time which they wasted in morning and late evening ( Total around 3 hours a day). They all seemed to be very happy and also the owners were happy to see their cars shining when they left.

This incident is of great relevance to me because it explains the concept of how multiple sources of income helps individual or any organisation to do well overall. A diversification strategy is the strategy that an organization adopts for the development of its business. This strategy involves widening the scope of the organization across different products and market sectors. Considering a management graduate i can clearly relate to how the theories and the discussion which we are undergoing in classes from different areas would enable us to think and do better in real life scenarios. I am to pursue studies which i feel would enable me to overcome challenges on greater scale in future.
