Part A

Life is what you make of it. We have to be ready to face challenges and make life worth living.

My grandfather is a refugee who had to work very hard to survive and feed his family. He worked day in and day out and always had a dream to build his own house. It was something very important for him as having one’s own house is a matter of pride and satisfaction. The responsibility of a family and work commitment made it impossible for him to achieve his dream.

My father after completing his education started his own business. It took time but the business grew tremendously and provided great returns. I along with my father knew my grandfather's dream. We had decided to give him a surprise by building his dream house. We bought land for the same.

We wanted to build the best house possible. The cement choose by us was UltraTech as it is one of the best in its category. It has high quality, resistance against corrosion and longer shelf life. It took us 6 months to construct the entire house. When my grandfather saw the house for the first time we could see tears of joy in his eyes. It was like a dream come true for him.

Swami Vivekananda has rightly said “Arise awake and stop not till the goal is achieved”. Not every time in your life you will get an opportunity but when you get one make sure that you don’t miss it.

Part B

Life is all about making it big when opportunity knocks at your door. I was an introvert and shy student at school who was a stock of laughter for most of the students. I accepted my fate and hoped somehow it would pass.

Every cloud has a silver lining as they say. My school organized for a cultural exchange program to Germany. I wanted to be a part of this program but something was holding me back. I gathered courage and somehow applied for the program. Everyone laughed on hearing about my application for the program.

I worked extremely hard for the selection interview and worked day in and day out. I took help from my teachers as well as my parents and consistently tried to improve myself. I cracked all the interviews. I was even provided a sponsorship for the exchange owing to my excellent performance in the interviews. It was like my whole life had changed in seconds. My peers who could not talk to me straight faced came and congratulated me. The struggle did not stop here.

Travelling to a whole new country, away from family seemed an even harder challenge. I had to rise and conquer my fears which I eventually did by being a part of this life changing exchange program. From a shy introvert to a confident young man I became.

Life is what you make of it. I had the opportunity and I cashed on it. Sometimes we keep on waiting for the right opportunity instead of making one.
